Tips/tricks on polishing daisy style GSR rims?
Hey guys,
I have a set of the daisy style GSR rims that are in OK shape- They have some corrosion, etc. from salt and snow. What I was thinking of doing was polishing them- essentially sanding the clearcoat off them, wetsanding the machining marks (Rings) and corroded spots off them, then polishing them with a polishing wheel, and finally clearcoating them with 3-4 coats of clear to protect them.
I did a search on more info and came up empty, so if anyone has ever done this, or knows any tips/tricks/things to look out for or reasons I Should not do this, please post them here. Pics would be cool too, thanks!
I think I remember seeing this done on some GSR blades once, but that was like a year ago, and I don't think it had 'polish' in the title. Anyway, let's see what you have?

eastwood sells a wheel polishing kit that has all the buffers and compounds you might need to do it. kind of pricey, but it's complete, and they have nice stuff.

use aircraft stripper (blue can) LIBERALLY to remove all the OEM clear coat
under that is a nice polished alloy surface. if necessary wet sand with 800-1200 grit paper to remove corossion. then use a polishing compound to buff out the wet sanding.

LOL yeah, that's all I've heard them called? Or 5 spoke style. Anyway, yeah, they're pretty corroded around the rim, already did polish them with Mother's but I was thinking strip the clearcoat, wetsand them and polish them to a mirror shine instead of the machined look, and re-clearcoat.
