Default Need help on installing Type-R cluster in EF??

Hey I saw on the internet ( was stupid and didn't save the site or pic. ) but the guy hooked up a Teg. Type-R gauge cluster into a 88'-91' Civic/CR-X. It looked like he re-used the old cluster shroud too. I'd love to do this with the same clutser or get the Spoon or Mugen clusters for the Civic Type-R and put it in mine. But there were no instructions on wiring or parts need for the modification. Does anyone have any info. or links to sites that give all the info. needed on doing this conversion. thanks it'll help a bunch.

Info taken from http://www.4thgenerationcivic.com/index.html

Integra cluster

I am not held responsible for any problems or results that may occur from anyone attempting to try this. All the following information provided is correct to my knowledge through the use of wiring diagrams attained from the Honda/Acura dealership. This cluster WILL NOT fit inside of your stock dash without modification to the dash which is not described in the following how to. If you have any questions feel free to email them to Immafrompitt@aol.com. Enjoy.

Necessary tools/equipment:

1990-1993 Integra gauge cluster with the plugs and wires intact

Your stock civic wiring harness

18 Quick connect wire connectors (can be purchased from Wal-Mart for $4 a pack of 16)

Pliars

Ok. First step is to remove your stock wiring harness from the dash. In order to do this I had to remove my entire dash. I do not have instructions on how to do that so you will have to look elsewhere or I may include them at a later date. Once you have the stock wiring harness removed you will need to clip the plugs that plug into the civic gauge cluster and remove the electrical tape wrapped around them so that you have enough room to move the wires as needed. Once you have that done, take the plugs from the integra cluster and seperate all the wires so you can see which wires are what more easily. There will be 3 wires from the integra plugs that you WILL NOT USE. There is one wire on the smaller plug (fourth wire from the left -green/red-), and two one the large plug (the third from the left -blue/red- and the fifth wire from the left -green/red-). The wiring is a basic match and connect procedure with a couple exceptions. Below is a list of the wires and which plugs they come from and which wires they need to be connected to. Remeber you will have two seperate sets of wires comming from the stock harness, one set with SEVEN wires and one set with ELEVEN wires.

ELEVEN PIN CONNECTOR:

All of the wires from the LARGE connector attach to the wires from the eleven wire plug you cut off with the exception of two. Those wires are the Red/Blue striped one and the solid Black wire, they will connect to to the corresponding wires from the seven plug side.

SEVEN PIN CONNECTOR:

All the wires from the SMALL connector attach to the corresponding wires from the seven wire plug you clipped off with the exception of three. The Yellow/White wire, Red/Black wire, and the solid Red wire will connect to the corresponding wires comming from the eleven plug side.

So when you are finished connecting all the wires you should have the SMALL connector with THREE wires running to the corresponding wires from the other group of wires and TWO wires from the LARGE connector running to the corresponding wires on the other set of wires. If you don't understand this just look at the pictures and if you still need help just email Immafrompitt@aol.com and I will try to help you best as I can.

YOUR FINISHED! Just plug it in and double check everything is connected properly and enjoy your new cluster. Incase your wondering about those 3 wires that were not used from the integra plugs they went to the cruise control light, low fuel light,

Do not connect the red/blue or green red wires shown

Do not connect the green/red wire shown

Cluster installed

Ignition on (the green light that appears that it is on is the cruise control light, I removed the bulb so the sunlight was making appear lit.)

Idling with the hazards and highbeam lights on

Light rev just to check the tach and temp. gauge

NOTE: I am installing an integra dash so I can't fully explain how to install the cluster in the stock dash other than you cant use the clear shield and you have to trim the hood and the inside of the dash to make it fit
