H22a euro-r tranny gears
Ok so the H22A vs. B18C5 thread got me thinking. I have a euro-r tranny and I was thinking I could pull it apart this winter and have the gears reproduced locally at houseman autosport, but it will probably be big $$$.
Anyways, can someone explain how an H22a tranny works? If I wanted to get the Euro-R 2nd and 3rd (only gears that really make a difference). What pieces would have to be reproduced?
I have put some pics here so you can tell me what is what. You can assume the same final drive (for now)

Can you do individual gears or is the whole shaft?

I would think that you would have to have both the countershaft & the mainshaft gears reproduced.
Oh well. I looked on the hondaautomotiveparts websit, but it doesnt say what gears are which. I'll have to go look in my helms to find out..
BTW all of those gears (accept for the two on the input shaft) will come off the shaft leaving it bare

Here I labeled them

Damn. It wont let me keep the original size. The one on the right thats blurry is 4th gear (under mainshaft), and the other is 5th gear (under the mainshaft)
blah.

so it looks like it is possible to switch the 2nd and 3rd gears since its not cast on to the main shaft. right???

trannies are scary. The first time I took apart a reg d-series tranny, and I was like, **** that...
How did you manage to get everything apart like that without knowning exactly what you are doing (no offence).
Why you get all the gears copied? IS that so other people can use them and you could sell it?

1000$ ?????
what i want is the h22a performance gears but the f22a final drive..
man highway kills...
if your going to do gears do the euro-r performance and f22a top end, because the 4th gear in the lude is good for up to 120mph anyways and at that speed hell your breaking the law badly enough so what's a slower 5th.
now that would get my attention,.

Sounds like you want this for your a daily driver. your better off finding an f22 tranny and taking the 5th out of that instead of buggin Satan_SRV to make you something just for your personal preference.
I'm particularly intrested in the production of the 2nd and 3rd gears being that this setup will be used for drag.

looking at the labeled pic I see 2nd and 3rd on the countershaft. but then I see on 3rd labeled on the main shaft. Whatlooks like 2nd is labeled as cast onto the main shaft. IS the 2nd gear cast onto the mainshaft?
I think your right satan. It looks as if the gear drives second gear is cast onto the mainshaft. I dont know what it means, but it could be bad. We need to compare that mainshaft on your euro R tranny with a stock prelude tranny. If the gears cast onto the mainshaft are different, then that one more problem. Then to change the final drive you will need a new counter shaft (the gear cast to the counter shaft spins the differential). Its gonna be brand new after all this.....
The more I look at it the more I wish they would do the B series tranny idea.

Here you go Joel and for all:

Hmm, from what it looks like, 2nd and 3rd being on the counter shafts, then 3rd being displayed on the main shaft. It definitely appears that 2nd gear is cast on the main shaft, and the whole thing would need to be replaced to change out 2nd gear, where as 3rd gear appears to change out.
