Default L3 - how to tell if it is a Dx or Si trans from outside???

It's hooked up to my Y8 so i can't look at the internals but is there any indication on the outside? or code on the trans somewhere?

Correction L3 trans...not Y3

Thanks,
VINCE

look near the tranny filler hole...........

PL3-A000 = small bearing case, usually DX
PL3-B000/6000/9000 = large bearing case, only Si/EX

not to doubt the D series master but i recall reading a thread that there was no actual 100% bulletproof way to figure out what tranny it is just by the casing marks cuz there were exceptions for like every tranny...?

mista bone is right, both my si trannies said the same thing, and i had a dx that was just as he described it. also, if its in the car, you'll be doing about 4000 rpm's at 80 or so with the si

So Mista Bone is the D series guru? I have another question for him then...A D16Y8 was just swapped into my car but i think that the drivers side mount is wrong. It looks like it's bent or something, anyway someone told me that i had to switch that mount back to the 4g Crx mounting plate and mount to fit my 88 CRX right. Is this true?

Thanks!

Cool, so the other 3 mounts should be from the Y8 engine and only the drivers side mount should be the original one from my CRX? just making sure

I said nothing about trannies . I said all d15 and d16 motors fit in the 88-91 civic.
