Urgent!!! Car Won;t Start! Not ur typical question please help
Ok guys im in bad need of help here...
Last night i attempted to install the msd6al and blaster 2 coil, after finalizing the installation i tried starting the car up and it won;t start. After 3 hours of rechecking and dbl chking my work i got fed up and put the stock ign back on.
after puttin my stock ign back on the car still will not start. I need some serious help and advice here i have no idea whats going on.
Here's all the things that I have done to check:
I've checked all fuses, inside the compartment and in the engine bay, all fuses are good
There is spark because i pulled the spark plug wires out and placed it next to ground, I get spark.
I also pulled my spark plugs out and put them onto the plug to see if it will spark and yes it does.
I've checked fuel, pulled my fuel rail out and started cranking the car fuel was spitting out, I even went to buy 2 gallons of gas.
Any suggestions or help woudl be greatly appreciated...
For all those who are to tell me stock ign is fine I agree, But i am boosting so the ign upgrade is a necessity for me...
TIA

1 2 |

Just checked my compression also guys...
0 in all 4 cylinders, disc the ecu completely, took out spark plug wire in each cyl and spark plug and installed the compression tester, cranked 5 times, and reading came out to be 0 in all 4 cyl
What is wrong???

May have fried the ecu with improper wiring. Put oil in the cylinders when cheking compression. Check to make sure that the injectors are firing, not just that fuel is coming out of the fuel rail.
If you can't get it started I'll buy it cheap....I lost my car monday.

how in the world can i fry my ecu? there's no wiring related to teh ecu when wiring up the msd. there's no possible way that may have happened, and 2nd off i've tried using my friend's ecu already and same problem
u mean spark plugs are firing, and that has and have been checked it is firing. checked oil level also oil level is perfect
help....

there are very few ways to get 0 compression. 1) you arent doing the test correctly. 2) your timing belt is fuxored. 3) you destroyed your camshafts.

yes it keeps turning over n over.

1. i did an archive search and i dbled chk how to do the ocmpression and i am following the exact instructions:
a. disc ecu
b. take out spark plug and wire
c. install compression tester
d. crank motor over 5-7 times
e. repeat
getting 0 compression
2. I dbled check again my timing belt, its not loose or anything
3. i took my valve cover off and i checked my cams and head everything is in perfect condition
4. I cranked the motor by hand, and eveyrthing was fine.
i am stumped u guys...
ive also chked to see if my pistons move up and down and they do...

are you getting fuel to the cylinders? eh, nevermind i just reread your post.
i don't quite understand the compression readings either. but, it could be something very simple. check the grounds?

I agree...check the little things first....forget the compression for now...if it was running fine before the install and haven't started it since, I don't see how you could blow your engine....
double check all fuses, spark wires, plugs...you MUST have a short somewhere (I can almost guarantee it)...
If all is still well...like someon suggested above, check the ECU (try swapping it just for laughs)...and see if that does it....the fuses should safeguard against sensitive electronic equipment shorting out, but I've seen and heard of weird things happening.

Grounds have been checked over and over again

have gone over teh simple thing over and over all fuses are good, there is spark in every wire, i even made sure there is spark when i have teh spark plug on.
ecu has been swapped also and it stioll will not start up...
im stumped i have no clue nor understandning what is going on...

definately a short or a bad fuse!! you're not checking something...keep checking...seriously... Have a friend check with you....I'd start with the fuse box again
Turn the engine by hand and make sure your crank pulley, cam gears, and dist. rotor are on TDC for the same cylinder. Possibly you reinstalled the dist in the improper position.

had a friend help already too and we can't source the problem at all... i just don;t get it...
car turns fine, there's spark + fuel... but it just wont ignite... i even tried push starting it and here's what happens:
1st gear push start, getting rolling to sufficient speed and i pop the clutch while giving it 100% full throttle; RPM goes to 500ish and slowly dwindles down to 150 and dies out completely. the car does not sputter or anything at all the sound of the engine is very hollow as if i'm running open headers...
hope that will be of some use for anyone who might know what is going on...
