B20b in EK: What LS parts required?
i am looking into maybe doing a b20b swap around christmas time, and i know i need this much:
-b20b longblock
-LS intake manifold assembly
-b-series header
-LS ecu(preference)
-GSR tranny(preference)
-possibly an obd2-obd1 adapter, depending on what yr the motor is
am i missing anything? do i need any special mounts? i have searched alot by the way, but didnt find the answers i needed. thanx in advance!

I imagine you will need civic si mounts all the way around.
Also, consider putting an LS 5th gear in your GSR Tranny. I have a straight up GSR tranny on my B20 and 70mph is over 4000 RPM.

damn!!! thats crazy! what do u top out at with that tranny? and how bad is this motor with an ls tranny? i would imagine not that bad, considering the torque.
this might help.. its for a delsol but its almost the same thing minus the linkage.

ITR tranny? I thought that was almost the same gearing as the GSR if not shorter...I might be wrong though...
I know in an EG you need the LS or GSR driver side mount bracket, but I've heard of people not needing to do this in an EK. But, I'm not 100% positive on that either...

this will be my first swap, so i am assuming itll be pretty straight forward without having to run wires for vtec and everything. i am goin to be doin this in my garage, probly with a cherry picker. are there any other special tools i might need?

what would make you do that? arent the gears even shorter in those trannies? if u do 70 at 4000 in 5th gear in a gsr, which is like 4.4 fd(i think), imagine an even closer trans(isnt itr 4.875?)!? i dont wanna have to shift into fifth at 70 and then bog cuz my fifth is too long. any tranny suggestions?

Yeah get an SI/SIR2 tranny for your torque monster. Search for the tranny debate that i started about 3 weeks ago. and yeah you will need the stock ek mount on your criver side upper. you have to get an SI rear t bracket. you will have to get and SI upper pasenger side tranny mount. The rest of the mounts just have to be B series mounts. Where are some good B20 prices?
I wouldn't use the stock EK upper drivers side mount. Since GSR engines rip those things to shreads I would expect the tq from a B20 to kill it even faster. HA sport and place racing make polyurethane mounts.

as far as mounts go you use the 99-00 Si mounts if going with stock but I highly Vote Against it.( My torquless B16 ran through those crappy *** mounts in a month) but if you insist on using stock mounts buy the poly inserts for them. or do what I did by replacing the stock mounts with HASPORT's new B-series into EK mounts.
as far as trannies go it sepends on what your long term goals are for the car and what it will be used for now?
cruisen around town and AutoX/Road RAcing/Drag (building a N/A ar)- ITR,SI,CTR for close gearing and low end power
if daily driver and used on the highway alot (or plan on using BOOST one day) I would go with a LS
or split it down the middle and use for everything go with GSR (good mild tranny IMO) and when I had my GSR swap in my EG I could do 80 in 5th at about 3500? but I have never driven a B20 with GSR tranny (I couldnt imagine the gearing would change that much btwn motors though)

just make sure you have alot of sockets deepwell and standard size in metric sizes in half inch and 3/8 in. drive....also you need a BIG *** breaker bar to get the axle bolt off and a 32 mm socket

i guess it is but.. i dont race anybody.. altough going 80 mph on the freeway is ann eyesore looking at the tach. overall had no problems with it for a year. now.. it is alot more fun to drive then a b16 i had before.
what are some driving impressions? i have heard of how torquey they are, but what are you opinions? pros, cons, whatever. i wanna know what im getting into.

a definite upgrade. Mine broke in like a month..........and those liquid filled mounts tend to like explode when they break. I had liquid EVERYWHERE

dirves very good very torquey. i say get it if u want to side stock. have to shift at low rpm like around 2000 at times cause it chirps, from first to second unless u wanna ride the clutch. if u r rolling 10 miles in neutral, you cant go first gear unless u ride the clutch, cause it will chirp. it gets annoying in traffic cause of the shiting back and fourth. takes a bit more gas but overall ok... overall it is a great motor. it gets me thinking alot though cause people that never had a b20 hate on its unreliability. i never set the fuel pressure tough cause at high rpm, aroung 6-7 i feel there is not enough gas pushing it.. i would definitly recomend it though

Damn Chris, good luck with doing this swap. I still recommend you wait it out and save up some $$$ and go for the CTR or ITR motor. But it's your car so do whatever u want. Did the civic arrive in one piece??? Thats a long travle. Hope nothing happened. And have a
