please help my car...






it started a few years ago, i was using the skunk2 sway bar w/o the beaks kit it tore the subframe so i had it welded up. apparently it wasn't strong enough and it got a lot worse.

i have a idea on how i want to fix it, which is taking the car to a honda appointed bodyshop. but i'm also open to any suggestions.

I'm definatly doing the beaks kit when I get my rear sway, that sight scares me.

are you going to re-weld it again?

 

you probably might want to get a new subframe. re-welding it would be a temporary solution. when you weld something, its usually stronger in one spot and weaker in another unless you find a professional welder. just a thought

 

You can buy a new subframe from Honda. Better yet, try to get a CTR one. It's stronger.

 

that sucks, i feel your pain on that one. personally i wouldn't bother re-welding it, just get another one.

I dont get how you would take the old one out and put a totally new one in. The last time I was under the backside of my car it looked as if the subframe and the chasis were all one piece. Do you have to cut the entire subframe on and weld up the new one. Or is the undercoating on the bottom of the car covering the bolts that hold the subframe in. Confused=me

 

i've decided to take my car to a good body shop that knows what they're doing and have the whole subframe removed and a new one rewelded on.
btw God bless the comptech rear sway bar, if it wasn't for the brace the whole thing would've fallen apart...probably while i would've been driving

I'm curious also, does anybody have experience doing the subframe swap?

 

I think someone on here has performed an ITR subframe swap..... does anyone know what the user name was?????

Quite the contrary, there are specific instructions for replacing the rear subframe. They're just spot welded onto the actual chassis. I wouldn't just trust any body shop though, and don't go cheap. Find a reputable & recommended shop that has done it before. Since the new subframe will have to be welded on, it'll be pretty gay if it's done wrong.

why not? I haven't read a single report of tear out with the beaks kit.

My pop's is a manager for 20 years at a Body Repair shop that works on a variety of cars and I have seen them do a rear subframe swap due to accidents involving the car hittin a curb. They buy the new subframe from HONDA and they have chiesel off the old one and put back on the new one. They don't guess the measurements either. They have a special frame machince called the "Car-o-liner" that has its own PC with software of the exact measurements of the frame and subframes of every car. Old sub comes off new one goes back on with welding and coating to prevent rust.

you know what sell the bitch.... and buy new kaa with no subframe damage and install your sway bar the right way.....

Mario is right...the subframe is spot welded onto to chasis...this once happened my a friends CRX...he took it to a shop...they drilled out the welds and chisled the subframe off...then welded on a new Honda subframe they got from a dealer...as for installing the new piece in the right/same place as the previous piece...i believe they just made a template...the kid hit a dear 3 days later...its a shame

 

damn i wish i could show this to that ******* that told me that a beaks kit didn't do **** and that you can't rip your subframe with just the swaybar
