taking out the iab setup will only lose some tq on the bottom end and do nothing for the top end.....already tried it and it sucks.....if it were boosted, then you could remove them and port/polish it to flow a shitload of air...but on a n/a setup, it just hurts your 60ft times

I run mine open all the time...so having them out completely might help a little bit...

mine are completely out too, and even removing the spacer doesn't help....until you're moving huge amounts of air, i.e., BOOST, it is only gonna hurt lowend while leaving top end where it is....i've seen dynos that showed losses of 5-7lb/ft tq until 4500rpm

Well I'm fully built with a modified low cam (Crower 3) I think closing them would be worse in my case

Leaving them open is always under debate and an agreed end can never be reached. Taking them out as in taking the shaft out helps with hp. The shaft blocks air. It's as thick as a pencil. You will loose a little low end though.

i have dyno tested with the butterflies open all the time against normal operation. some slight loss in bottom end and i mean slight 2-lb ft tq and did not gain any up top. i completely understand how the iab system works and i did not say i was definatly removing the plate. i am going to look at and see if can can do one of a couple things. possibly modify the short ports and remove the throttles on the short runners all together. then disconnect the vacum line to close off the long runners at all times. i dont know yet though, like i said i am going to do what i think may work. i have a spare manifold and i figured trying this would be fun. and if i **** it up and it doesnt work oh well, no money out of my pocket.

If you want to do something useful, take out the plates and join the long and short runners together. I saw it done on a mostly stock JDM h22a and it gained quite a bit.

i did it and it felt like ****.....didn't get to dyno it, but it felt off somehow....so i dunno, i just put the spacer back in, and now i'm just running it as is without any butterflies, rod or whatever...completely open, but the stock runner length
