OT: warning - bad experience with SpeedPeople.com
Apologies if this is not in the proper forum, but I thought I'd share my recent (and ongoing..) experience with this company:
About 6 weeks ago, I ordered a set of KYB struts for my Integra over the phone from SpeedPeople - they seemed alright on the phone, had a flashy website, and a professionally done on-hold message, so I figured it was all on the up-and-up..
2 weeks pass, and no struts. I call, and am told that they are tracking my shipment. They say it was lost, and they're sending another out - another 2 weeks of no struts and phone calls ensue, with every call ending in "they are all lined up to be there this week". After a month, I am fed up and call again. I get the guy to guarantee the order will be here by the end of the week, and if not, he says I can have a refund. Friday comes, no package, and I call and he tells me I can expect a credit on my mastercard in a few days.
Another 2 weeks go by, and I still haven't gotten a credit on my card. I call and am told to call back when the accounting dept. is in - I call back at the given time, and of course they are not around, but the guy offers to help me. After explaining the situation, I am put on hold for awhile and when he comes back he tells me he has no record that the order was ever cancelled and that he won't give me a refund because "your order is all lined up to be there this week". I tell him I've heard it all before, and that I was already promised a refund by his associate. He puts me on hold for another while and comes back after supposedly conferring with the other guy, telling me the guy has no recollection of ever telling me I would get a refund. I am getting pretty irritated by now, and I tell him I want nothing to do with his company and expect a refund immediately, as I was promised (did I mention I've already ordered the struts from another company by now?). He absolutely refuses to honor the refund request, basically claiming I was never told I would get one. I tell him he can deal with Citibank, and we leave it at that.
CitiBank is disputing the charge, and they tell me SpeedPeople will have to prove they shipped me my order to get their money. Hopefully it all works out in the end, but nothing is finalized yet.
Basically, SpeedPeople could be a legitimate outfit, but even if I am not being ripped off, their customer service is horrible - I will (obviously) never give them any more business, and I advise anyone thinking of buying from them to reconsider.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Glad it helped - if I can discourage at least one person, maybe some good can come of this whole deal. The prices were good, but don't let them fool you.. after dealing with these people, it's really worth paying a little more and going someplace reputable.
