Timing belt changed but loud squeaking noise?
Not sure what the heck is the problem. Here it goes, started the car after having change the timing belt and SQEEEEAAAK!!! I'm like what the hell, is that just the belts? After driving for some time, turning off the car, and then start it back up again...theres no noise. Can someone tell me what I might possibly have done wrong or whats gone wrong? Thanks in advance.
Is the squeak consistent?
Does it go away after a couple of seconds?
It is normal to hear a slight squeak for the first 2 weeks.....
But it is also possible that another belt is too loose.....
I would take it back to where you got it fixed and have them check it out
*Dont spray wd-40 or any other type of lubricant on the belts*

The squeak is not consistent, and it does go away after a couple of seconds. I was told not to tighten the alternator belt too tight because it might cause the bearing to go bad on the alternator. True or False? Thanks for the replies though.
