dynoed b20vtec ek...s2s1 cams not cutting it!
yesterday i made 22 passes on a dyno....torque was 125 starting at 2k rpm went up to about 140 at 5kand flatlined all across but the power cant go past 195,,,,,,tuned cam gears/fuel/timing/.....revving motor up to 8600 and nothing cams just arent putting out...i want to get a cold air intake/aftermarket ignition/etter plugs/grounding kit.....t/b and try it again...all i want is 200 whp

try the above, you should be able to hit 200WHP without having to use the SK2S2 cams! i just did some of those mods, i'll like to see how much difference it will make when i dyno the car! good luck

umm 195whp ? that's not bad.
My setup is b20 with 11.5 piston , stokc b16 head with s2s1 cams with cam gears.
I made 180whp and 140lbs at trackmasters, tune on hondata 2b. I need to upgrade intake manifold , better flowing header , tb , injectors. I say you drop in skunk stage 2 cams with valve spring upgrade.

200s are there , what ecu and engine mangement are you using?
i went 212 stock itr cams in my b20vtec setup
edit: saw you are using hondata, find a better tuner, the power is there...

i already have a hondata gasket....i put on the 2nd half ofthe itr aem cai......i want to get an aftermarket ignition from force and a 65 mm t/b..the car is on 100 octane now and runs alot better... a/f ratio was between 12.7-13.2:1...across the board...and after 7k it holds 12.5:1......i wanna sell the stage 1's but i wanna see what i can get outta them 1st...........anyone have a t/b 4 sale???????

you could sell your skunk2, and get a gsr inkake manifold, and have someone port it that knows what they are doing
there could be alot of other things you arent doing correct to get higher numbers. might not be the cams.
the tuner makes a big difference too

i was theer with the tuner and even though im no hondata guru...we got the a/f pretty good...ran it richer lost power........and leaner than 13;1 isnt what i wanna do.....cam gears saw every possible combo and nothing was better than factory settings...we advanced timing and lost tq...retarded it and lost hp...we tried alot of combinations......my main concern is to get a gneral idea of what i had....i know some corners were cut...but overall i know its capable of 210 with some better cams/ tuning and other bolt ons.....today i got my 2nd victim 00 mustang gt...yesterday's was a yellw s2k..we didnt really race but he couldnt pull way from me......i was gaining so he let off.....
so if its fast, why are you complaining?
remember the main goal is to be fast first, then have big dyno numbers to tout
if you get a good gsr ported head, and ported gsr intake manifold, you can hit 210prolly with your setup
i would get a ported head, before I would get cams

with that setup, 190-ish whp and 140 tq is still good, you should do more port work to the head since you said it's just a light port work to clean out the ports. with a good flowing head, the 5 more whp you want should'nt be too hard to get.
I'd get a 65mm Throttlebody, clean plugs, 100 octane, and go back to the dyno on a cooler day with a better tuner, and im sure you'll make 200+whp...
if you want better cams, we have 3 dealers in florida that will be happy to get you something.
the m22 or m23 would be a good setup for your car.

the car was tuned by a guy named lenny......hes known in miami..hes a hondata dealer and has tuned a few cars out here.......maybe he didnt do the best job .....i want to at least get the throttle body and maybe drive up to see john at secret services...im sure to get a few bugs out shouldnt take that long......i put on the cold air part of the intake and i cut out both holes wher ethe oem fogs go.....car feels pretty good.........im sure that the car can get improvements by tunning timing and messing with the cam gears..........bob dc-2....i would love ef-1 cams......i spoke tpo hondasaver and they gave me a great offer......m24 jun killers sound pretty good to me......would the head need to be removed to install the springs????......any infor would help....thatnks for the input guys!!!!

off the top, colder plug or at least Iridiums, close the gap a bit since you dont have an msd amplifier, single layer crank pulley and an Endyn breather kit with MSD ignition wires.
The torque sounds pretty low for a 2 liter with that high compression, so either the cams are just not breathing or phasing vs. top end flow is off relative to your header scavenging effect.
The cheapest move right now, si closing the gap on your plugs and take away ign timing on your top end and slightly on the mid-range.
email me or post the dyno graph, also give some specifics of how much timing at different points on the rpm band you're using ... we can e-figure it out
via email.

as you were leaning it out did it make more power? dont get hung up in afr numbers. run it where it makes the power. if it makes more power at 13.8-14:1 then run it there. i know you will pick up some more power leaning it out. keep an eye out for detonation and pull some timing out on the top and you'll hit 200
we were on the dyno brefly with our b20vtec... around 11:1, ported head, itr intake manifold 64mm tb and s2s2 cams.. not to mention a shitty as ign system that was breaking up bad over 8000 rpms. we hit right at 190 hp. it was still climbing too.. but it started missing over 8000 so bad it wouldnt pull the dyno.
ours liked to be at about 14.3:1 till vtec then it liked 13:8ish to redline. from my experience b20vtec dont like alot of ign timing... we run right at 19-20deg advance at full load. get it back on the dyno before you start changing out parts

cheetah and jdogg thanks laot for the advice...i already have msd wires...and cannot remove a pulley or layer off crank pulley b/c i have a/c...may be able to remove p/s part.
anyways i cannot run regular plugs b/c the piston hits the electrode...im running mustang plugs b/c the thread is shorter and the electrode doesnt sit to low intio the cylinder.....do iridium plugs offer that??....if they do im on them
as far as timing......from what i remember up top it was rading something like 24-25.5........i didnt really lean it out up top to much cause it was on 93 octane and i didnt want to hurt anything........im planning just getting plugs...setting the gap and just saving up $ to take it back to the dyno....just lost my job about 1 week ago and im on a budget......but thanks alot for all the help guys......like i said..keep it coming!

Please list what you have
What do you have for the following?
My suggestions.
Intake pipe - ICEMAN or AEM
Exhaust piping - 2.5+ inch no cat
Muffler - 2.5+ inch straight through
Injectors - 440cc or bigger
Ign - stock is fine. Run .035- 0.038 gap. Try some ef-1 plugs
You'll want a bigger cam S2 stage 1 won't cut it. S2 Stage 2 or ef-1 m24's and run them with tight lobe centers. Like 102-104 on the intake and 108 on the exhaust.
You should be able to hit it. We were on our way to 190whp on our 1794 GSR motor with M22's so you should be able to do 210 easily with some decently big cams.

ok...what size is your throttle body? i'd get an erik's racing 68-70mm setup. get a jg header...best bang for the $$$. get an aftermarket fuel pump...walbro 195 lph or something higher. get like 310 RC injectors...12.2:1 with 84.5mm bore should put down higher numbers...
im already running a 2.5 inch exhaust..madrel bent with 2.5 inch straight through muffler.......gap on plugs is 35..............im running rc 370 injectors...and they are nnowhere near maxing out....and im using a headertech header which is one of the best headers in the market..up there with hytech and smsp.........throttlw bpdy is stock....which is defeating purpose of good cams/header/intake manifold......im hoping with just a 65 mm t/b and better fuel....the car should easily hit 200 and m guessing a little more open header on 100 octane.........
imho, running leaner with less timing will make more power than running richer with more timing. also make sure to compensate for ign timing when you adjust the intake cam.. if you advance the cam one cam deg make sure to retard the timing 2 deg to keep it the same
