Default Mid 14s in a GS-R with just I/E...

Ok, because of some non-believers and at least 1 complete moron newbie ( https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=2 ), I am posting my mid 14 time slips on my GS-R. Mods are as follows:

AEM CAI
RS*R/Invidia catback (same as the Skunk2 Mega Power, different badge)
(stock header, stock cat)
Eibach Prokit springs
KYB AGX 4 way shocks (all 4 set at full stiff)
B&M short shifter
Nitto NT450 tires (at about 25psi)
SRR LCAs (forged aluminum, 3lbs each, dunno what stock is)
removed pass. seat, rear seats, trunk carpet, board over spare tire, jack, tools, spare tire, rear shelf behind the seats.
133K miles

Here are 2 slips from Stanton (Mid Michigan Motorplex) 14.5 on the right, 14.6 was the run before that, to show it wasn't a fluke. This was at about 9pm.

Here are two slips from Milan Dragway. This was midday (3:45 and 6:04). Ambient temp was 90* or so, dunno what it was later in the day, but it was still very hot and very sunny. This is my 14.654 as seen in the video here: (right click save as: http://www.msu.edu/~mishraa1/TegvsRX7.mpg ) and my 14.612. I posted the vid of the 14.654 cuz I beat an FD3S RX-7 R1. Notice my trap speed is higher than at Stanton eventhough its a hotter day. I believe this is due to removing the P/S belt (pump and everything still there). I read somewhere on here someone gained decent hp from a free mod, so I thought why not. NOTE: I DID have my P/S belt on at Stanton when I ran the 14.5. This was my first time going to Milan, and I only got 5 runs in. This track sucks compared to Stanton, as other H-T memebers can attest to. Anyway, here are the slips:

These pics were from my digi cam. I will not have access to a scanner soon because I'm going out of town for a family emergency, and I didn't wanna leave you guys hanging. Theres the proof. Mid 14's is possible with little weight reduction and good driving. I had to leave Stanton after hitting the 14.5, but I think with more launch practice I could have had a lower 14.5. I hope to have some better tires, and a header by my next track visit. Thank you.

Just to further back you up for the non believers my boy had a 95 GSR with a short ram intake, cat back and stripped the interior from passenger seat back. Car was going consistent 14.8s so i would def think mid 14s are possible with very little mods, sometimes it all comes down to the driver. Good luck with your car either way

wow. pretty damn impressive. i could only run 15.0 in my friends 95 GSR. for just having so few mods thats really fast!! good job.

whats your launching technique? i dropped the clutch at 4k and went WOT.. not to much tire spin.

95 GSR 2dr 80K
Short ram intake
Stock header, cat and exhaust
Stock shocks with 205/50-15 Kumho 711 AT 25psi (15X6.5 Rota Attact)
Full interior.. nothing removed (school books and crap too)
i want to go back again and try to hit mid 14's with stripped interior, jdm 4-1 header and an exhaust.

RT - .478
60ft - 2.201
330ft - 6.295
1/8 - 9.665
mph - 72.66
1000ft - 12.58
1/4 - 15.062

my launch technique is secret...

j/k

What I found best was high rpm slipping. While low rpm dump or slipping can net you good 60' times, you won't be in the right rev range to pull your car after that. For my 14.5 I slipped it from a little higher than 6500rpm, got a little wheelspin, grabbed at about 7K and was gone from there. The vid posted I was slipping, still got too much wheelspin and backed off to about 3/4 throttle, maybe even 60%, it just felt like I had to lift a lot before I got traction. I guess, imagine the launch in my video with less wheelspin.

Why would anyone disagree or not believe those times, your car is stripped....thats one of the main reasons why your time is so low. That wouldnt happen if you had full-interior. Props on times anyways

I can believe it too. Some cars are faster than others. It's not like all GSR's are broekn in the same way and will all run the same times. I know a guy who had a 95' GSR with h/e, otherwise completely stock, and I saw him run a 14.5. I also have a friend with a 95' LS, BONE STOCK(except srpings) that ran a 15.5 once. Some cars are factory freaks. The LS had 120k miles at the time.

Thanks for the compliments. I guess they didn't belive it because the ones that called BS were pretty new members.

I'm sending out a M/O on Monday to another H-T member for a slightly used JG Edelbrock header. Then off to the track in Oct. when its nice and cold, and I'll be able to see what my baby can do. Low 14's here I come.

yeah, OBD1 ownz j00. I would say get a Skunk2 intake manifold and a chipped P28 ecu and a conversion harness. I say Skunk2 manifold because, to my knowledge, a chipped P28 won't run the secondary intake runners, and a P72 ECU is expensive.
