Default Slightly OT: Bonding Foam Injection (for structural reinforcement -- S-RIM) Redux

Hi, dredged up the two archived relevant threads and read through them..
https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=164559

but I'm looking for more information.. specifically any product/vendor recommendations.

My application is not vehicular, but instead seige engine (hence the off-topic), but I remember the discussion on this board. (Specifically RJ mentioned a thesis in "Alternative Materials in Automobiles"-- joke?)

Background-- I've got an aluminum box beam that's a component in a trebuchet entry for the world championship punkin chunkin ( http://www.worldchampionshippunkinchunkin.com/ ), and I'd like to give it a little more rigidity and damping. I'm having a little bit of a problem finding good information/vendors (product name recommendations, contact information, things to watch out for), and I figured on this board there might actually be some people who've used this stuff to whom real results are more important than bling..

btw there was this link, ( http://www.itwfoamseal.com/auto_aftermarket.htm ) but their java seems to lock things up on my computer, and I can't get the page to load.

Anyway, sorry for the off-topic.. I appreciate any help you can give. (google hasn't been very helpful so far.. if you find a good google search string, that's awesome too!)

Thanks again,
James

BMW is moving towards chassis' that are glued together because they hold their structural rigidity better over time versus welded chassis. I imagine the material of the foam is quite similar to the glue, but I could be wrong.

Well, until about 6 weeks left in the semester it was a joke. Then we (me and maengelito) had to write the damn thing.

And the structural foam is different than the adhesives used in metal/composite bondings.

I found this sport compact car aticle on thier project 300z, in which they discuss and use a a product made by an company called FOAMSEAL to stiffen their chassis. Here's the link to the article and the FOAMSEAL website; http://www.sportcompactcarweb....300zx/

Best of luck in the pumpkin launching, hope this helps.

Contact Mike Kojima of Nissan and SCC fame. He's an engineer and has used structural foam in several apps. I believe he goes by "morepower" or something on this board.
