HID - question related to Philip 6000K Kit....
I have search on the archieve (which answered most of my questions) but I still have 2 questions with no solid answer.
1) Are those bulbs interchangable with lower Kelvin (K) Philips bulbs?
2) Based on this article http://faq.auto.light.tripod.com/hl-hid-bulbs.htm 4300K is actually brighter than 6000K, is this true? and if that's the case, is there a reason why 6000K is much more expensive than 4300K?
I don't know if this is the appropriate forum to post this but based on the search in the archieve, I know a lot ITR guys have expereince with HID. If mod. think it's more suitable for other fourm, please move this as needed.

I am not sure about interchangeable or not to the lower kelvin, but I did once send email to (forgot the name of the store) that they are saying it is interchangeable as long as same brand.
Regarding brightness, I think it has been discussed so many times and 4300K is much brighter than 6000K, and I dunno why 6K is more expensive

6000k is more expensive because its a popular upgrade for peole with HID's. It may cost a little more to fix not sure.
As for interchangeability generally if its a phillips kit you can use a phillips bulb regardless if its a different temperture rating (IE if you have Phillips 6000k's you can use 4300-4100k PHILLIPS builbs and vice versa).
Also if you do go with a 6000k kit make sure the bulbs are ultinons. its not a phillips 6000k bulb if its not a ultinon.

How do you tell if it's a ultinon?

You should be able to swap the bulbs, no problem.
Here are some pictures I popped up of my 6000ks:

Everyone on the board is quick to flame and say "anything over 4300k is garbage"...dont listen to the bandwagon. Do what you want...technically, 4300k is the brightest, but some people do want a bit of bling to their HIDs. I can understand why people wouldnt get 10000k for example, but 4300/5300/6000k...whatever.

It will say it on the package.
It will be a clear bulb (don't get a bulb that's colored).
The cyrstals that line the bulb will be a purple/blue color.
And I agree with newgsrdriver. A lot of people don't like 6000k's but in my car they look bright white with a slightly purple hue to it. Its not ricey @ all parked next to a factory HID equipped car they look almost the same (like on the reflector OEM HID equipped cars).
My buddy also has the 5000k kit from xenondepot and he actually ended up liking mine more.

I have a 7000k kit and love the color! Yes it is true you get more light from the 4100k-4300k kit but the 5000k-7000k kits still give you a major performance gain over stock lighting! **** the hype get what you like!
