Anyone install 6x9 speakers in there R?
Well...as I mentioned before...about my stereo problems..I went out and bought a 300.00 dollar clarion cd unit for my integra. Sounds clear..however lacks the speaker quality which I knew I was gonna face. I know one of the big problems that the integra consist of..is that the speakers consist of only a size of 6 and half's.
Anyone of you guys run 6x9's in the back? or got them to work without cutting anything..and what kind of aftermath quality in sound did you get?
Im gonna put some new aftermarket speakers...but I think with the stock size speakers...Imma lack alot of bass and more treble..which is not what I want.
Thanks guys.

You won't fit 6x9's without major hacking.
Listen to some quality 6.5's to see if they have the sound you want, and if you can't find any two or three-way speakers that sound good, look into separates.
Or think about a small sub.

Wrong!!!
... (don't take it offensively)
It mounts in perfectly fine.. w/ NO CUTTING.
You just need to remove the whole speaker pod. then it'll fit you just need a couple of self-tapping screws. then you'll be fine.
If you want me to take pics of mine i can.

Thanks guys for the input..however Im am trying to stay away from any type of sub. I have no back seats or trunk carpet..and plan to keep it that way. The radio isnt all that important to me...cause I rarely drive the car..however..wanted to see if I can get away with getting some nice mids and highs and bass as well.

I had a nice set of 6.5 components up front and 6.5's in the rear...I wouldn't get 6x9's, as a circular woofer is always better...
Mine was setup w/ their only duty being mids and highs, as I had a sub for the low frequencies, but they still sounded awesome...
stick w/ the 6.5's, but make sure they are a quality set. FWIW, mine were MB Quarts...

I have a Nissan frontier with a superb sounding stereo system that has mids, high and bery nice bass.
I wanna get that kind of sound quality from the integra.

You don't NEED to have a sub to have decent sounding bass...but what I was trying to express is that if you get a good set of 6.5's, you can have enough bass...just don't expect to get it out of a $100 set of rears...my Quarts cost me over $300, and that was just for the rears...the components were almost $500...I wanted to go the route of a sub, b/c I already had the equipment from a previous install...
Rob...is there going to be enough air space behind the panel to do this? The area back there is somewhat cramped so I don't know how they'd perform...guess it can't hurt to try!

I had to dremel the stock speaker basket a bit, and make a spacer type thing to bring the speaker out a bit, other than that it fits fine. just need to get an amp now

Component = separate speakers for highs and bass/midbass. Typically a small tweeter and a 5.25-6.5 driver along with a dedicated crossover.
Regular = multiple drivers (usually) combined into one "speaker."

You spent $800 in speakers? For an ITR?
I can't hear the POS stock system. I think the esoteric speakers would be wasted in such an environment of ambient noise... err... "mechanical music".
Even the audiophiles will have to admit the sound quality difference gets less and less the more you spend (i.e. big difference between $100 and $200, moderate between $200 and $400, and infinitessimle between $400 and $800). It is a known principle of economics called "The Law of Diminishing Marginal Utility". There are so many "improvements" that could be made to an ITR to alter it as a listening environment before such speakers are cost effective... however all of those things fly in the face of that which makes it an ITR.

The box is about .25 cu feet and has a 9 inch long x 1.5 inch dia. port. It is rated at about 120 watts and I think I'm pushing about 45 to it
(It's a pos realistic amp rated at 75 watts, but i seriously dought it puts out more then 45 watts).
To me it is perfect. Its the size of a shoe box and it weights about 4lbs. It fills in the bass missing from the stock speakers. It is nothing like a 10 or even an 8 as it does not rattle your insides, but I really don't care for that anyways.
D made one too that is sealed and fits in his spear wheel

Err... I made a mistake, its only 75 watts. But it still does the job.

No, I had the speakers previously, but they were worth every penny...If I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it right...and that means MB Quart speakers...
Regardless of the car, I've always been an audio freak, but less now in vehicles...I enjoy a nice system...
