Default Weights of parts from rear of an EG

VX Pleather Rears:

Seat Upbacks - 10lbs each (x2 = 20)
Seat Bottom - 9lbs
Lower Belts - 4lbs (all pieces together)
Upper Belts - 3lbs each (x2 = 6)
Hatch carpet - 2lbs
Hatch cardboard - 6lbs
Cargo cover - 8lbs
Spare tire - 20lbs

Total savings = 75lbs

All done for now. Everything was very straight forward, nothing tricky at all. I think I'm gonna mount a basket using the spare tire hardware I may also do some drilling and mount some bike fork mounts in there, see if I can fit a bike in there stadning up (with seat off of course).

Yep, that's all I wanna take out for now though. Trim pieces aren't worth it, they hardly weigh anything, they really kill the "atmosphere" of the car, and they are not legal for removal in Street Mod.

The belts were 6lbs alone, so the trim was only 6 I guess, not worth it IMO.

I did the weighing on a bathrom scale, certinaly not scientific but it can't be far enough off to matter.

Next step - I need to lose 10lbs (6'2 185 so I'm not fat, but I'd like to drop down to 175)

i didnt weigh the buckles w/ release that are bolted to the mid part of the frame, just the parts that you have to take off the top panels around the windows to get them off. but it all adds up

I thought bathroom scales are really inaccurate at low weights... I have all the same parts sitting in my garage, I'll double check with a weighing scale I have at my work(Mailboxes ETC) and post the results here.

I did a baseline with me on it and then got the weight with me holding the stuff.

So you didn't weigh and find out how much were all the rear plastic panels? Just curious, because as you previously stated- I have to put mine back in for SM next season.

I'll weight the plastic panels on my work scale, it measures .01 ounce to 100+ pounds.

Using what someone above said (his plastic panels and upper belts were 12lbs) and subtracting the 6lbs that I found for the upper belts, I'm led to believe the plastic weighs 6lbs.

12 (total) - 6 (belts) = 6lbs

Remove plastic from right below hatch (just pull), remove all screws and bolts in the panels (I had 2 plastic screw thingies and 2 bolts on each side), remove the hydraulic hatch arms (12mm), then PULL the lower trim panels, followed by a PULL of the upper trim panels. You should now be able to see the belt mechanism and reach it. I think the bolts on the mechanism were 17mm, there are 2 of them and then when the main part falls off there is one more 10mm. You now have the upper part removed but the belts are still attached down by the seat with another 17mm.

Hope that helps

If my explanation isn't clear let me know, I'm willing to help ya out.

Also it is a given that you will probably break some of the clips, but it should all go back together fine (mine did).

instead of completely removing the panels, and having to take off the hydraulic things, i just made a tiny slit in each upper panel so it would come off w/o having to take the hydro thing off, and just pulled it back far enough to get my wrench in there

My 94 cx with integra susp and motor and other stuff with full interior and 1/2 tank of gas weighed 2160lbs. I went back with full tank gas, no pass seat, back seats, side panels, seat belts, carpet, spare/jack/tools, spare cover, underdash a/c evap, heater blower, and It weighed in at 2040lbs. I still had front door panels, headliner, front speakers, rear 6x9's, and trim around rear windows. It's easy to get our cars lighter by taking out interior pieces.

Taking them off takes no more than 2 minutes each.
