got some 405 LS non vtec crower cams not sure if i can run them or not, help me
Well I wanted the Crower 405a's but i believe i got the 405's..
This is for a b18a non vtec motor.
The duration of this cam is 270, 270 and the lift is .502 .502
Does anyone think i can get these cams to idle without a EMS?

Speaking from experience:
First off with those cams you will not have sufficient rocker arm clearance without machine work to the bottom spring retainer/seat. Without modification you could royally mess up your head. You'd have to bring it to a head porter or engine shop and supply them with the cams to make the appropriate modifications. Its not a DIY job.
As for idling, you will definately not be idling very well anything under 1200rpm even with an EMS.

what exactly needs to be done to the bottom spring retainer seat?

no need for any work to be done on the head had the same one's i did break a rocker arm but replaced and just made dual valve springs use orig from ls and the inners from b16 intake side. worked awsome, and for idle if u have ur ecu chip have u ever shipped it lower ur rpms and then advance ur timeing.

Way to bring it back from the dead. not a smart idea to run these cams on a somewhat stock valvetrain (your an idiot if you do). It would be tough to get a nice idle also
Nothing wrong with adding to old threads. As I just pick these cams up today and this thread answered my question on the spring seat. Bump lol never know whos looking for info on what
Just put my 405a-2 in my p75 head few minutes ago, and there close to the rocker nuts but do have clearance and should wrk fine.
Man I would love to have some 405's or 405a's. I am currently running the original 404's, which I love, but as always there is more to be desired. Going to a vtec head is not an option, unless I cant break into the 12's with my 2500lb DA. If I do put my vtec head on, I have already locked vtec. The only way to go in my opinion.
I run the old school 405 but they didn't clear the rocker bolt so I send them back to crower to take some lift off. I currently run 11.7 with my B20 nonvtec motor (all motor)
Nonvtec eg6, what is your race weight? I have run 13.8 so far on a basic tune with my 2500lb 91 Integra, going back after I swap my transmission so hopefully I can gain a couple tenths. I know a tune will help loads, and I will eventually get to the dyno. But I might just wait until I get my b20 block together, instead of dumping all of my money into my LS. But I am nonvtec all the way.
