SIR hood....does it add under hood clearance?...how much?
I need about an 1" of clearance for my setup to clear properlly...
The front 2 manifold runners are hitting.
will the Fiber images USDM SIR hood do the trick?
I can get it to the safety latch, but it's just not enough room to latch securly with enough room for engine movement.
Thanks for any help!

sorry to have to add that, but, mayby a hood with a dragon nose will help,
I know, I know, it'll look like ****, but that is the only thing i can think about right now... ya know the ZC hood will give you a slight more clearance on the timing belt side... other that that....
Hope this helped out a bit

I think it will fit. The SiR hood has the bumped center section which looks like it would give you the clearance you need. Oh by the way that is one badass setup
Well if your thinking of ordering a carbon fiber hood, if your looking at Fiber Images hoods you should read this first. It talks about the underneath of the hood. Its a good write up about the styles of there hood now.

mb products makes a fiberglass hood skin for the 88-91 that would clear, butit requires hood pins on all four corner.
I have a carbonfiber SiR hood on my CRX.
It does give you more room. I just went and checked my hood, and if you cut the under hood stuff, it seems like you would have plenty of room for the manifold.
If you could meassure how high the manifold sticks up, I could meassure mine and
give you some idea of how much room it gives.
Take a pic with a ruler next to it or something like that. Don't use the valve cover as a guide since it changes from car to car.

I am having the same problems with hood clearance. I found a place here that will make a custom carbonfiber hood. They are going to make it to clear my motor and turbo. I will let you know how it turns out if you are interested.

For you guy's that specified that you had the SIR carbon hood...what manufacture is it from?
I'm going to do a little more research about the Fiber Images hood, and if all looks good, that's what I'm gonna go with.
Oh, hey Seth and Project!

I hope it will be pretty quick. I want a full-race manifold that is designed like the b series manifolds. I can't go far enough forward to used the full race manifold that they have for the h22.
here is my 2 cents. i have a FI hood but not the SiR one. the clearance in the back is a lot more than stock but where it comes down and folds in the front by the bumper you have almost the same clearance as a stock hood. thats my info

if you wanted to hack your hood and put a carbon fiber duct/cowl, that might give you clearance and cooling... a guy I know here with an h22 and custom turbo manifold had to hack his cf hood because his engine bay was just too hot... turbo sits close to the hood, not down below. anyway, he hacked it up and is getting (or may already have) a vent from http://www.carbontrix.com . just a thought.
