Default H23a to H22a1 Basics

Ok,I am goingto sound like a total newb, but there seems to be a whole lot more people asking, so I thought I would gather a bit of info for everyone!

When you wanna do an engine swap from H23 to H22a1 what, asides from the engine needs to be swapped as well?
Wiring Loom?
ECU? swap the p28 for the p13 right?
exhaust manifold?
fuel, oil, water pump?

what else do I need!?
I promise I won't ask any more questions!

when doing the swap you will need
1. Helms manual
2. run three wires for the vtec systems (2 to the ecu and one to a ground)
3. Use the wire loom from the H23, there is only one connector that isn't used near the front radiator housing)
4. You will Use The P13 as an ecu unless you get a p72 or p28 that has been chipped for your engine. (the stock ecu for the h23 is a P14)
5. You will need a header for a H22, but it will bolt up to the cat so you wont need an exhaust unless you want one. if you do then you need to either buy an exhaust for the h23 or buy a new cat and exhaust for the h22.
6. you will also use the distributor off of the H23 instead of the one from the H22.

when do the swap you will want to change out the following
1. water pump
2. clutch
3. t-belt
4. use the parts from your h23 to convert your h22 to manual T-belt tensioner
5. fuel pump, not needed but if you want to you can

Thats all i can think off right this second. I need to get back to putting my car back together. So if i forgot something im sure someone else will help me remember.

Pretty sure that you can use an H23 distributor on an H22 if you want

you can use the h22 distributor if you get a usdm h22, if you get a jdm h22 it has the internal coil instead of external so you would have to rewire the whole thing.

wouldn't it just be easier to use a H22 distributer on a H22 rather than a H23 distributer??
IS it any harder to wire up a p72 or p28 ecu (which is better if I wanna mod???)rather than the p13? In case I decide to modify in the future? If it is a lot more effort than I probably wont bother...
I have found the p13 wiring information, But I would really like to get my hands on the p14, p28 and p72 info as well!!! does ANYONE have them? I have searched but can't find them.
A few ppl have suggested that the dash needs to be removed to do the wiring for the swap, is this true?
cheers!

the h22 and h23 distributors with the external coil are the same part number. the wiring for all obd1 ecu are the same as far as i know of, if you have a p28 or p72 it will plug in with out any wire changes, but as i said before you will need to have them chipped with a program to run the h22. if the swap is going into a 4th gen prelude then the dash does not need to be removed at all for the install, you will only need to pull back the passenger side carpet to get to the ecu location.

on thing i forgot to mention before in the list is that you will need to ecu pins to add the wires you need. you can get them from a junk yard or i have a few sets left that i can sell. ( this is only if your vehicle wasn't wired for vtec which some 4th gens were)
