Default ITR vs EVO 8...???

So honestly tell me how many people here are concidering selling/trading replacing the ITR for the EVO 8?

It really seems like alot of H-T members are moving away from the R.

Whats the deal? are those cars really that impressive to drive?

I'd sell mine for an EVO 8, but can't even seem to give it away. Dealer only wants to give 13,5 for it as well. So another poll for" being stuck with the R" should be added.

I've had a chance to drive a buddy's EVO 8.

I must say, I am very impressed with the packaging.

From a driver's standpoint, the car is truly a driver's car. The suspension is very stiff and properly matches the vehicle's gross weight. The brakes follow the suspension's philosophy of no BS. They are amazing!

The interior is somewhat cheap for what you pay for. The seats are really firm, but not uncomfortable. They're reclinable, just like any other Recaro seat.

The position of the instrument cluster in relation to the steering wheel and shift lever is very familiar. It's not much different from an ITR. The shift lever is firm and stiff. The throw is solid and precise and very notchy. The clutch is very firm and doesn't put alot of fatique on your leg. The gas and foot pedal is closely position so that a small individual like myself could heel-toe if need be. (Big-Footed people can fat-foot all they want.)

The interior is roomy and the sound system is very nice. Inside volume at speed is good but far from being excellent. The controls and dial for the window are solid.

The power is somewhat dissapointing. At low to mid rpms the power comes on strong and pulls you really hard. It dies off quickly at higher RPMs, almost forcing you to shift earlier than redline. At high speeds the car becomes very underpowered.

I got a chance to race one in my Hype R last night from a 3rd gear pull. He had the initial jump, but once I reeled him in and began my takeoff to the upper limits of the RPM band, well, let's just say a conservative 4 carlength before I let off the gas. Then again, my ITR isn't exactly stock.

stay with what you like , there will always come along a better car to come .
Is very tempting to purchase a new car , but there always the options to have both ...

i was all against the evo hype
in reality they are very nice cars....
the itr is in no way in the same class as the evo .....evo will whoop on an itr in every which way
also you can buy 2 brand new itrs for the price of one evo....so go figure
i dont think id ever want to spend that much money on an evo....id rather build a mk3 supra

I thought about it for about 2 days.

Then, I came to a conclusion. My next car will be a RWD sports car.

AWD turbo is nice, but that's not for me.

I Disagree.

$23,450 x 2 = $46,900
EVO 8 isn't remotely close to $46,900. Unless you're an idiot who wants to pay for the dealer markup.

Or how about you get rid of the little boy racer look and buy a real sports car like a 911 :-)

I am in the process is deciding what to do with my R. I have 2 more track days left this year, and then I am not sure what to do. I've had the car for 3 years, I've enjoyed driving it, but let's face it, with all these new, powerful cars coming out, the ITR is no longer the cool, rare car it once was.

I mean, with the 3rd gen Integra, we're talking about a 9 year old platform after all, and a 2003/2004 platform car is no doubt going to be better. The argument for getting an STi or Evo is very compelling. Especially with the STi, you're getting a lot of bang for the buck. And most of these new cars will easily outform an R.

I know this might be hard to accept for some people. I was this same way, if I could do a search and dig up some of my earlier posts, you'll find that I said I'd keep my car forever. But the R is not like a Supra or NSX, it's merely a suped up Integra.

And all the folks who think it's a classic, thing again. The ITR prices have come down big time. That's one of the reasons I'm stuck with it, I am hoping to get about 18K if I sell it, but the dealer won't give me more than 15K if I trade it in.

Just my 2 cents.

I am thinking of trying to get an EVO/STI (If I can afford one in a year or two). These new "pocket rockets" are the best in history. They have great performance, with room for up to 5 adults, great gas mileage, reliability (hopefully), and somewhat affordable.

But, I feel my ITR is still an amazing car. The ITR has this "soul" that cannot be found in other cars. The way this car just makes me feel cannot be duplicated in other cars. This feeling is amplified on the track.

So, in my mind, an EVO/STI will just be an addition to the family and not a replacement.

EVO/STI = street car
ITR = track car

We need a choice for "Would trade my car but cant afford it". I am more into just fun daily driving so an Evo/Sti would be good for me because I here it is a fun car. The ITR is great for driving everyday but sometimes it can be a hassle. Alot of people agree with me here so they use the ITR as a track car only but unfortunately I cant look at my car everyday and not want to drive it.

I'll proabably sell my car in a couple years. I have no intention of getting rid of it now. In fact, I just started modding it.

I would personally get the STI over the EVO 8. I think the EVO 8's are kinda ugly through my eyes. One time when I was out w/ a bunch of girls, we saw one parked on the side of the street, and they all thought it was just some ugly riced out 4 door sedan. I told them that it was a 30k turbo beast, and they just laughed and didn't really give a hoot.

i looked an an evo 8 just to see what the hype was about and for the price im still not impressed with the car.a good many of my friends have DSM's and they run awesome for the small amount of mods they have but they are always breaking also, and its stupid stuff, power streering lines cracking, injector clips falling off,not to mention the crank walk issues for the dsm's from 95-99, etc. even when i had speedvision when the cars ran there did awesome but they were broken more than they ran,i belive even this last pikes peak race subaru got first and seond and the evo was doing good till the rear end locked up. im from Pittsburgh so if it would come down to saleing my R this car would be a good choice for a year around daily driver but id actually would opt for a WRX. the bottom line is i really like my R more than i thought i would, i have had the car for 4 years now and i still love driving it as much as when i first got it, well maybe more since the turbo is on it. i thnk before i sold my are and dropped 30k for an EVO by a company with a shakey past as they have had, id rather buy another type r for a year around daily driver, and keep the a/c in it this time

my car may not have the same kind of traction as an awd evo, but its making more power than an 8, and much lighter than one too

Z06 stock form is an *** whooper... Modified, I can't imagine..

I don't think I'd ever let go of the R, I might buy another car in the future, faster, better hanlding, but not let it go. I have a goal of putting a million miles on it in my life time..
