Default pics of my "swift-performance" or johnisenglish downpipe fitment...or not fitment

Ok i was finally ready for my turbo install, i/c on, header off, manifold bolted up, wastegate bolted up, turbo bolted up, left side i/c piping done go to bolt up the dp that was "custom made" for my turbo/manifold/motor and this is what i find...

First the dp hits the a/c compressor and its supposed to be a/c compatible so i shave some of the compressor but it still wont fit as you can see the space between the flange and turbo. The end of the dp touches the ground with the car on jackstands! even if i use to flex to compensate, the first bend is lower than the cars body and touches the ground when off the jackstands. So to make a long story short I spent all night getting the car back to stock so i can drive to work the next day. I was so pissed being that close to boost. So i figure its probably a mistake and i call the number on the site and the person that answers says john is away at college and i need to get in touch with him. He took down my info and said id get a call tomorrow but no call. I sent an email to john and never got a response so now i have to post pics for you guys. So John if you see this..i expect it to be resolved at your cost since it already cost me $215 and 8 hours of my time. I just hope i can find a local place to make me a downpipe that doesn't charge an arm and a leg. Oh yea sorry for the long post and yes thats pantyhose on my i/c

I bought some piping and stuff from John myself.

Hopefully you'll get your problems resolved. I tried emailing him a couple times in the past 2 days(no answer). I'm sure he's just busy....hopefully.

He seems like a pretty good guy. I'm sure he'll take care of your problems

I'm sure youd be a little pissed if youve been puttin your kit together for a year and your trying to get it done before going back to school, then your that close to finishing it and you have to waste your time going back to stock because of this one thing. I dont mean to "demand" anything but i cant help getting a bit pissed off. Do you have a good reason why he shouldn't be responsible for making this right? Maybe i should forget about the money i spent on it and just hang it up in my room

buddy, ive been putting mine together for 2 yrs now. take a number. by demanding something, you dont help the situation. it just sounds hostile and he will be less inclined to help you to the max.

looks like that dp could be fixed to fit.you could beat it in w/ a hammer alittle to clear the a/c with out effecting the volume too much, just use a flat surface like a 2x4,then cut it off right at that bottom weld, twist it up,and get it rewelded to fit up underneath the car.

Why dont you just take it to a muffler shop, have them cut/bend/whatever the minor glitch is and be on your way? Im sure john would take care of you when he can and you would have your car.

I get demanding like you in specific situations such as this, but try not assuming that he wont take care of you first instead of hurting his reputation on one of his major sources of business. If it was a person, Id say flame away, but until he tells you to go F yourself (not saying he will), Im sure the situation would cause you much less stress...

Good luck

but in the end he still paid 200 dollars for something that was supposed to fit, and it sure *** hell is no were close to fitting. so now he has to take it somewhere to get fixed. do you think you should spend 200 dollars on a downpipe that you need to get fixed? as he's already pressed for time as is...

bluesi2k,

I understand your frustration, If you spend $200 on a downpipe thier should be no fitment issues. Im sure that john will reimburse you, but he can't reimburse your for your time and effort Not everyone on the board is lucky enough to have a daily driver/beater. So i would be pissed i f i couldnt finish my install because of this and have to retuern my car back to stock. Time and $ wasted

I was going to get it cut and rewelded at the bottom but the first bend that comes down is also too low it just about hits the ground and my car is barley lowered. You can see in that pic how it comes under the body of the car. I also cant see spending that extra money for somethin i already paid for. If John would like to reimburse me for some of the money so i can use that to get it fixed i dont think id have a problem with it.

IM sent, we will cover the costs it takes to fix this problem. I am under the impression that maybe two of our orders got mixed up since we have had only two complaints. We will work to fix the problem, but I maintain that if you ordered from anywhere else, you wouldnt have gotten it as soon. Some people I understand have been waiting months for their orders form some compnaies. Sorry for the inconvienence, thank you for your patience.

yeah i had problems with my intercooler piping from these guys. Sucks too because I spent 270.00 on it and it didn't fit. On top of that I spent another 100.00 to redo the piping myself. Still waiting on word for partial refund. Since I was able to use bits and pieces of his kit that didn't fit to work with my new piping.

He has agreed to reimburse me for the cost to fix it so the problem is taken care of. I dont want to give his business a bad name, he was very cooperative in this and it was an honest mistake.

one or two mistakes is one thing but several... Come on now.

Somethings up with that place. I always wondered how they could fit stuff on your car if the car itself isn't there. I thought maybe they might have templates that they follow or something but my stuff didn't fit and on top of that I was missing parts.

I've heard other people having problems with them too. Your probably like the 3rd or 4th person I've heard from in the past couple weeks to complain and Obviously its the only way to get ur stuff fixed.

I would say bad management and order filling practices. In my opinion. If you pay someone certain amount of money to get something done. You'd expect it to be done right. That's the whole point of having someone else do it for you. Isn't it.

and to think i was gonna order an manifold and downpipe from them.. no way.

Just my 2 cents.

Damn i thought i was the only one with that problem...My downpipe hit the a/c compressor, was low like that, and was about 6-8inches short from the cat...i ended up hammering it a bit to clear the a/c (just for temp. since i ended up hammering nearly half if the damn pipe to clear it ) and getting an extension...also the o2 bung was sitting straight upwards...I've been waiting on my reimbursement which supposedly went out on sat...I dont know about you guys but even ups ground doesnt take this long to send something one state away...He says he'll get my a tracking number, but then he told me he dropped it off at a drop off mail box...i already missed a couple days of school cus i have no other transportation...

give it time . i know john personally and his business is starting with a huge bang, maybe even bigger than he expected/hoped. he has had a couple hurdles in the way but i am positive he will be straight forward and honest. i dont know about you guys but i couldn't make college a go plus work plus a side business, i would be stretched way too far.
