Okay. Lots of people suggested brake fluid. Since I had two containers of it, I decided to try it.

First some before pics for those who don't want to click on the original post.



After soaking them in brake fluid for around a hour for each piece. I used these dull scissors to scrape away the paint. Didn't scratch the pieces much. I probably could have used my fingernails if I wasn't being so lazy.



I'm currently soaking the vents, which should be pretty easy to wipe down afterwards. There's a little paint still around the screw hole of the door handles, but i probably won't be able to see it once the screw is in.

As for the bigger parts, I suppose if I had a big bucket or something to soak them in it would work fine, but I'll probably just buy new pieces. That's all for now. Each piece needed to be scraped & wiped down for about 15 minutes each after soaking them. Better than buying new pieces.

I used laquer thinner and a towel to remove the paint from my interior pieces.

 

"Easy Off" Oven Clearner should work as well......But a lot Faster.

I used to use it on my model cars when I was younger. It strips off the paint without harming the plastics.

 

Should have left em blue.

But its your car.

 

Just did my interior peices, and i used oven cleaner, just the cheap generic brand and it works like a charm. Thank god for oven cleaner. Project derice continues. Oven clean works in bout 1 hr but if u leave it over night just wipe it done with some paper towel and you are good to go. it is also much cheaper then brake fluid. and easier to work with.

I stripped mine as well a few months ago with brake fluid, worked just fine. Is that some Krylon Fusion Blue, looked the same color as mine

 

i've got all stock blue interior on my 93EG and was wondering about color conversion kits. what would i be looking to spend on going grey or black? or would it be better to do a good paint job on the interior? nothing flashy of course. i just feel so limited with my exterior color(pearlescent blue) paired with the navy interior. after i get the basic engine swap stuff finished, i want to make my ride eye candy. i don't want to post pics because she's a little beat-up looking. not terrible though.

some chipping paint, a little rust, some small dents and scratches. any ideas or helful info is appreciated. thanks.

I my self used black sem paint to do the interior of my car, damn honda and 1/2 black, and 1/2 gray. I hated it so it is all black now, looks good, and has held up very well. It was also a lot cheaper then buying new or used peices to replace. Not sure if it would work on the dash how ever. I do think that it will. But u could always have it rehoplstered as well. Give it a shot, won't hurt anything. If it dont work just buy the peices.

wow.. i might do that this week.. my interrior pieces is red and it looks like ****, i was about to pay someone that has a wrecked civic for the new pieces. so how long do you soak it in brake fluid for it to come off easily?

 

Try paint thinner and a good brush. If that doesn't work get some nose plugs and nail polish remover

Yeah I have the same problem the last owner did the same crap to my car and its now like chipping and it looks retarded....waiting after I get my OBD2 to OBD1 Conversion I will do it...kinda broke now

Use oven cleaner man, it is cheaper and works way better, i used it and rinsed my peices off under water and the stuff was coming off, and i had 3 different colors under the one plus clear coat for each color. It is much cheaper plus if you get the spray can it is a foam so it sticks where you want it to.

 

i know this is brought up from the dead, but theyre is a spray can that will take care of this. its called paint stripper...there is one for autopaint that will hurt plastics, and one specific for plastics such as bumpers, sideskirts, and im sure you can use them on interior pieces too. just spray, wait 20minutes, and wipe away with a rag.

 

people who paint their interior like that scare me....
