Default Hey guys/gals new to this forum please educate me on all these...

abbreviations. EG, Bxx, EKx etc i'm reading the posts and am confused as to what this all means.

I'm bout to pick up a 97 Civic HB for a daily and getting rid of my 92 VW 2.0l 16V GTi might do a few mods to the Civic but nothing too crazy(famous last words) but anyway, please educate me on these things.

Thanks!

EG is the JDM tag for a 5th gen hatchback
EK " " " " " " 6th " "
Bxx....you're probably referring to engine codes...b16/b18/b20...(b-series 1.6L, 1.8L, 2.0L, respectively)...but keep reading, you'll catch on.
Welcome to HT.

EG is also what people call 92-95 hatches in the states, when they really aren't truely EG's.

The "S" and "VTEC" trim del sols in the states are true EG's though, and so are some 92-95 4 doors.
codes like EG2, EK9, EH2, EM1 can all be found in your vin # i.e.
1HG"EM1"151YL004614
1HG"EG8"547RL033571

not quite as simple as that but thats the general idea. for example the EK4 is a 6th generation SiR and the EK9 is the CTR. but ususally when people refer to cars they say EG or DC or whatever. there is a lot of variations for specific models. also some of those are the japanese chassis codes, the amercan versions varry slightly. oh and u forgot one - DA which is the older integra . good info though

That's why I listed most of the common acronyms thrown around here. He can do a search on stuff he has never seen bfore to get the meaning.

I have love for the EJ I just never listed it because I didn't want to confuse the guy. And I know itsn ot that simple but I am not gonna sit here and list every single acronym we throw around. Some times i swear it should have its own language.
