Default B16 head question

hello to all, i think this is my first post in the all mota forum.

i have a JDM B18C (gsr) I was thinking about swapping on a B16 head in the future, but i was wondering what kind of gains i would get from it, and how much would i be talking about spending. Could i build it gradually, like buy the head and put in cams and valvetrain, maybe a diy port job (i'm poor). Any help or ideas would be great. tia. Also, would i need a diff ECU?

I doubt you would gain power with the b16 head............why not put a b18c5 head on there.

You could get a ITR head for 700$ or so.

i'm pretty sure that the head is the same minus the mild porting, and cams.

The c5 head is essentially the B16a head with some mild porting.

Keep the GSR head. Don't waste your money.

save your money, a port job on the gsr head will yield more more power than a b16 or itr head. People spend hundreds of dollars getting their PR3 castings welded like the pent-roof design that you have.

the downside to your intake flow is the gsr manifold, which also has potential, but is def. the downside to the head..(in stock form)

i would go for the b16a head cuz it flows better. same as itr 'cept cams and valvetrain. basically no huge difference.

For the money you would spend getting an "R" head, you could get the Skunk2 IM, cams, and valve train. Going to a B16 or Type R head, you are giving away compression, which is like giving away power.

Skunk cams are going for aroun $650. Valvesprings about $280. Titanium retainers-$160. Total about $1100. You might be able to get a package deal even cheaper.

i'm using a b16 head on a gsr block...if you bold the b16 head right on the block you are going to lose some compression points and you are better off using a p28. go with what others say and just save yourself the hassle of switching heads and build your head, unless you plan on selling you gsr head
