Default Buddy Club SpecIII, Any Reviews? Specs?... "Custom" Exhaust project

First off:

Whats the total wieght of the system?

How does it sound? Perform?

Any gains?
__________________________________________________ _________________________________

Second:

I saw that the piping to the BC Spec3 is 8mm(gauge), so i asked Kteller8 if he can get his hands on some 8gauge piping, unfortunately he couldn't, all he has is 14gauge. Which I might settle for, for my exhaust "project".

If you can see where i'm going w/ this is i'm gonna "attempt" to copy the Amuse/JIC/BC Spec3, Straight through underaxle design, No Resonator nor cat

This was quoted from Kteller8..

Mkteller8: no, i cant:
you dont want that
Mkteller8: thats why you get those buzzing crap sounds
Mkteller8: vibrations
Mkteller8: that ricy
Mkteller8: sound
Mkteller8: fart can sound
Mkteller8: really not only that, but the heat and wear would kill that system in a 6 month time
Mkteller8: it wont last

*** Icons added by me ***

Is it true???, I was thinking it can be true since these exhaust systems are designed for "race" use aka off-road use only

Any thoughts guys?

Sound is very nice, but very loud. I had Spoon N1 before this and I can tell you BC3 is a lot louder. You'll really have to like loud exhausts if this is on your daily driver. On a racetrack constant VTEC is only bearable cos I've got a helmet on

As far as gains are concerned the biggest gain felt on the butt dyno is top end. Weight wise BC3 is one of the lightest out there.

The BC Spec III is very light. I don't have specs on the exact weight, but when I was installing mine I noted that the entire system combined weighed about the same or maybe less then just the stock rear can. Regarding the gauge of the stainless, I've had my system on for a year now with no problems. Lots of on-track miles. However, I do not daily drive my R. So, your mileage may very. The BC Spec III is a true N1 exhaust system complete with spring clamps. It's light, it leaks a bit when it's cold due to the spring clamps, and it's loud... real loud. Once the system is warmed up and sealed the power gains are good. I've not tuned my car yet, so I'm sure there's more power there. But the weight savings alone were worth it. You might want to IM Todd00. At one point I think he was going to purchase a Spec III. He might be able to weigh it for you.

Ask clayton about it. It isn't really streetable without a silencer.
It is fun to drive around, but the amount of noise is unbearable around town.

I think its a pretty decent system. Very light weight and the construction is fair. I didn't really care for the spring fasteners as they don't do a good job of holding the system tight enough.

As for the sound, it isn't that bad when it has the silencer installed, but it totally chokes the power. You definatley want to reserve not using the silencer for track days or race events.... or maybe sprited drives in the country.

Todd00 bought the system from me. Perhaps he would like to comment.

The Spec III is a great system. Light, free-flowing, etc.

There's no way that any exhaust tubing is 8mm, that's .312" wall. It may be 18g which is .049" wall or maybe .8mm wall (.031"), 16g is .065" wall and 14g .083" wall.

2-1/2" OD x wall Area

2.50x.049-18g 4.53 in^2
2.50x.065-16g 4.41 in^2
2.50x.083-14g 4.28 in^2

You're not going to get close to weight of the Amuse (8lbs) unless you go to Ti.

I remember someone having the SpecIII on a 99-00 Si at VIR a few years back and boy that thing was loud. Thinking about it, I wouldn't mind picking one up

Figured I'd throw in my .02 because I just got one...

It's very loud, but not a loud I've ever heard before. It's deep and throaty, almost like a Subaru (or any other Boxer engine) with an exhuast. I daily drive it with no silencer and have been lucky so far (knocks on wood ).

Very light weight! I couldn't believe it, and to think I almost spent $700 on a Titanium System. Cheap as hell!

Quality is exceptional, however they forgot my spring bolts! I tack welded the seams together. Installation required a little fooling around with, but nothing a wrench didn't fix.

Overall I'm very pleased with the system. I previously had an RSR Ex-Mag on and felt a nice gain on the butt dyno up top! My other mods are:

J's Intake
JDM 4-1
High Flow Cat

That's it! We'll soon see how she holds up FI
