Default How can I clean this header? (real dirty)

Well I am about to purchase a used header except it is really dirty. I am wondering what I can use to bring back its stainless steel bling! I know people say rubbing alchohol to get prints off but I have to get more than just prints off. Here is a pic:

I was thinking simple green might do the trick??? Any help would be appreciated.

Metal/Chrome/Mag polish should work just fine. You could always spray it down w/engine degreaser and scrub the ***** out of it.

Should I use a brillo pad? Or maybe the steel brillo pad?

try some chemicals that they sell on the info-mercial. they might work

If you want it to *bling* forever send it to Jet-hot.com they'll take care of you.

I used to use polish with steel wool on my chrome bike. It polishes up really nice and you can even get rid of rust. Not sure if it would work for you but just an idea.

Simplegreen, cool water. Repeat if needed. Mothers chrome/aluminum polish. Lots of patience, and hard work. A wheel would defineately help here.... if it is really bad, like oxidzed, you could try wet sanding it before the polishing stage.

yup comptech. I think I will use some simple green and then cool water (repeat many times), I will see how it looks when I am done and then go from there as far as polish goes. Thanks guys.

Most wirewheels have other metals in them that would cause bi-metallic corrosion.

Still with a Polish made for SS and elbow grease.

I am polishing my header also, halfway done. I used 400, 600, 1500 grit sand paper and some Wenol. It works great.
