Default What trigger the "Main. Req." light?

I have done an oil change recently (about 2K), but now this "Main. Req" light keeps flashing at me when I start the car, what could trigger this light to flash? I've heard it's a pre-set, once it hit a certain milage it will come on automatically. (just doesn't quite make sense why it would flash after 2K)

thanks.

You are assuming that the light was reset 2K miles ago.

(I think I am going to frame the famous Yoshi's pic )

so, is it safe to say that mileage is the only factor that trigger the maintenance required light?

Yes I believe that is right. It says somthing in the owners manual about it. I can't remember the mileage off hand on what is does though.

The maintenance required light is triggered exclusively by mileage, it does not indicate a problem.

Just a reminder to change your oil...if you don't reset it, it will eventually stay on all the time...but yeah, it's just a reminder for your oil...no biggie...reset it and be on your way.

If I remember right, it'll flash 10 times at startup at 6500 miles (from last reset). At 7500 miles it'll stay on solid.

Just reset it when you change you're oil and you'll be fine.

As well as your oil, don't forget to check all your fluid levels and what not.

It comes on at 7500 (or 6500 - see above) miles since the last time the light was reset using the button.
