Got myself a theft recovery project(56k give it a shot)
Actually it's my friends, but we're doing all the work at my house. He bought it for $3,600. The thieves stole the intake, ecu, all four 4 wheels, stereo, ignition lock cylinder, shift **** and some other stuff. Front bumper and passenger headlight were damaged during towing due to the fact that the car had no wheels. The yard he bought it from gave him an LS ecu and some steelies to drive it home with. Motor and tranny have 82k original miles.
not sure wat kinda condition the motor is in.. but sounds like u guys got a good deal... and a good way to kill time during the summer. good luck to ya guys on ur project.
Not bad. You could turn right around and part it out. You can turn a easier profit that way.
Its fun man, ive done two so far. If you need any help msg me. Also i know a place to get the ignition switchs pretty cheap. Dealer wants around 270 for them.
for a thousand more you oculd have bought a used gsr with similar mileage but less the fun factor of building it up yourself
Good Luck.

Good Luck.

Anytime you see a stolen gsr with the motor still in it, like this car you know that whoever owned it did an insurance job.

to answer some questions, he is definately going to fix it up. The reason it was totalled is because the damage estimate was close to $6,000. I read it, and it was just full of B.S. things they claimed needed to be replaced. They gave us an LS ecu just so we could drive it home, I guess they had one lying around or what not. The car will be n/a for a long time, basic bolt-ons will be done shortly. The title is the biggest pain in the *** about the whole project, it is a salvage title from mass. and we are in NY. NY has some strict regulations, but we spoke with the police and we will be able to get this registered. Mechanicaly, it's not going to cost us more than 500bucks at most.
If I was ever stupid enough to do an 'insurance job' I sure as hell would have someone tear out the motor for me and sell it and give me a nice chunk. Along with anything else of value within the car.
