Default LS rods in D-series motor

Are all B18 rods interchangable; such as 90-93 rods mismatched with 94-00 rods? I got a set of ls rods from a fellow H-T member for my z6 buildup but one rod was bent. Had another member send me a seperate rod, with different stampings on it. They look the same, just different stampings (PR4 86 & PR4 54).

*edit* I'm a noob at engine overhauls so bare with me guys. What does brushing the rods do, becuase I searched and some people said to brush the small end of the rod... Can someone clarify this for me. And if anybody reading this post is familiar with this swap, please give me some pointers as on the steps needed to make this work with my stock z6 pistons. Thanks,
Nick

All LS rods should be the same but I would have them balanced if they are from different engines

i did this before.... ls rods in a d block. call crower and tell them you need a rebushing kit for the ls rods. theyll know just explain to them what you are doing. i think i ran me like 38 or 48 bucks for the kit. balance them and shotpeened them while you are at it.

What exactly is this rebrushing kit? do i have to send my rods, crank, and pistons to them? Or is this a DIYS kit?

he aint joking dude.

you can use the supra rods which are sort of tall, and the shorter than D b16 pistons....at least from my understanding is hwo it works. comes out to the same hieight as stock d16 rods/pistons....but obviously MUCH stronger.

that combo was b16a rods with 1g-gte old gen supra pistons that are forged because that was turbo from the factory. Moddification is needed to get it all to work together. its like $520.

so do LS rods really work and if so what needs done??

LS rods work, from my understanding you need to notch the block to get them to fit.....never heard of the brushing kit...

it was supra pistons 75mm and b16a rods.....dropped the compression to like 8:1 for higher boost apps!!

my understanding is that the rods are also 2mm too wide at the crank end and have to be shaved. There was a big discussion on how to do this on http://www.dseries.org a while back. General concensus was that you could use LS rods, but by the time you bought the rods, bushings, and had the machine work done, you had spent nearly $300 for used/re-worked rods, while a new set of Eagle rods is about $330.

you might as well just get Eagle Rods instead of LS rods...

they are stronger and just about the same price, and the Eagle rods won't take as long to istall, as there is no machiene work to be done.

If you have to mod the STOCK b rods to make them work what do you think the likely hood of BIGGER (in just about every aspect besides stroke) working would be...

Short answer NO... they will not drop right in... but if you're buying eagle rods then WHY would you buy them for a different app... the d rods they make will handle similar power... the rods will NOT be your weak point if you get d rods instead of b (from eagle etc.).
