made a velocity stack intake today
i made a velocity stack intake. i got the velocity stack at http://www.summitracing.com its made by RS akimoto. the pipe there is a cut section of "hooker" exhaust piping. pipe size is 2 1/2" pics arnt too great, because there from a webcam. painted with BBQ grill paint from homedepot. im waiting for my pipe coupler to come in the mail so i can give this intake a try. so, enjoy?

stacks up velocity duh.
basically rams air into the intake.

Just need to figure out how to filter that.... I'm too paranoid to run without a filter. Anyone think it'd be worth it to replace your stock resonator with a cold-air velocity stack leading into the stock airbox?

its for track use only

well i was thinking of a screen filter.
cap it around the end of the pipe, insert the pipe coupler, then stick on the velocity stack end. just to block out chucks of junk. or cut up a K&N factory air box style filter and just flat it out and use it instead of the screen.
but those are just ideas for now.

summitracing order.
pipe part number:HOK-12270

velocity part number: AVC-19000
discription:Velocity Stacks 5.5`` Dia. W/2.50`` Inlet Polished
thank me later ian

I have the same velocity stack, but I just use a 2 1/2" rubber pipe connector to put it on the end of my CAI at the track.
I use mesh screen and foam as a filter.
If you are to go to a hardware store, you should be able to find foam air filters designed for A/C units. Its pretty cheap stuff. I basicly wrapped the screen first and the foam around it afterwards. (That way there is less likely of any foam coming loose and getting sucked into the intake.. but I don't see that happening anyways).
The idea is simmilar to foam filters like comptech use's for their shortram/icebox.

Try using Panty hose to filter it.
I sure hope it works...I've seen bad results on a dyno from removing the airbox completely and not running a filter. I'm not saying what you're doing wont work, just saying I hope it all goes well.
