dont u have a relay? why would u need a generic one?

its probably the same, only I heard with a radio shack relay you need to hold the button down until they fully retract.

1) i am trying to buy a set of jdm mirrors but the seller has no relay box...
2) i heard that you can buy one from radio shack to make the system work but i dont believe it

3) the difference in the jdm folding and usdm is that they are power folding mirrors, like mercedes, you can touch a button and have them fold in on both sides. many ppl wire this to their alarm so that when it is armed the mirrors fold in.

I wouldnt buy them without the relay. The relay unit not only sends the power to the mirrors, but it contains a timer circuit to cut the power.

A friend of mine who is an electronics engineer was going to try to copy my relay unit so that he could sell them on ebay, but he found it too complex to bother with.

Here are some detailed pictures I took of what is in the box....

Maybe check with Honda/Acura if they can order the JDM part, the part number is 38340-SR3-003. It retails for £88 in UK (thats about US$110 I think) but has to be ordered from Japan because it is not a UK part.

i was thinking to wire it to the locking mechanism, but wouldn't the mirrors fold every time the doors locked? someone has to know how to have the mirros fold with the alarm.

If anyone wants the wiring info it is pretty much the same as the link below. This link I did up for a friend so he could put a set of JDM CRX SiR mirrors on his car. The relay unit is identical, so is all the wiring for it.

http://www.clubi.ie/bpl/CRX/manf/

Compared to your USDM set up there would just be two wires that you have to add to each door, then the power, earth and line for the button from the relay unit. It is a really easy install fo you have all the stuff. But without the relay unit it would be a tricky install.

do they fold without holding the button down, and stay closed too?
also can you tell us how you did it with out the relay?
can you sire them to any alarm, or some other option like locking doors, ignition etc?
