i had those on my b16a,it just some vacuum line, i removed it with my skunk2 manifold and never seen them hooked up, i believe it did have some think with an auto tranny, because my motor was purchase without a tranny (maybe an auto) and every trann combo ive seen lack that bottom line

Default I know what it is

Ok I'll clear this up. That my friends is a booster valve. It allows extra air to enter the engine during cranking, so the engine will start easier. When there is vacuum at the vacuum fitting, the valve closes.

hey shawnD, i'm the guy you were talking to at the meet. (nice rex by the way). i don't know about the "booster valve" thing, that sounds kind of like something made-up to me. thats what the EACV (or IACV on newer cars) is for.

i'm pretty sure it's for an auto tranny, since the USDM IMs had the same flange, just un-tapped for that valve/actuator. find someone with an auto DA, and see what the thing is hooked up to. then let us know...

Actually if you're going to build it, I'd RATHER have an automatic motor. At least that way I'd know it hasn't been overreved or heavyily downshifted. Duh.

On the b16s it more then likely comes from the integra xsi, it came with that vacuum port thing, and this also means you have a 168hp first gen b16

ahh yes, how true, good thinking man. now are the cams the only thing that would need to be changed out, cause theyre different on autos right?

My B16 has the same thing... it's from an Integra Xsi... but it has an S1... that's weird... I've got it plugged though... I never thought anything else about it??

Mine also hod an extra vacuum line at the speedo cable, and it had an AC compressor attatched to it, along with another funky mount...

Can someone say for sure what it is??? And I'm liking the prospect of having 168hp....

Anyone??

im done caring what it is or what its for, i took it off. now i just need to plug the hole with something (the car will be turbo'ed later so it needs to be tight). i took that stupid metal vacuum hose **** off and plugged the two extra bigger ports (one went to the think that is circled). now i have two vacuum ports on the back, the perfect spots for my boost gauge and MAP (will be a GM 2-3bar)...

the one guy was right. Its an "air boost valve" it allows more air to enter the engine at certain times, controlled by vacuum. The similar looking thing is the dashpot, it is controlled by vacuum and its purpose is to control how quick the throttle slams shut so as the car will run smoother on deceleration.

well i just dont want that **** there, dont have to take emssions, and think that stuff looks like ***. i am leaving the one on the T-body cuz i have disconected the one on my ZC before and it idled like **** (think it was just on warmup). i also dont have those purge valves or whatever hooked up (the 'box' on the firewall, i threw it all in the 'extra parts bin'). im just wanting a cleaner look to the engine compartment...
