Ok tell me your tuning methods and setups, like injectors, any fuel pumps etc... tell me if you are the people that get buckling at part thorttle, how bad is it, does it occur at ALL rpm or just some.. and the people who run seamlessly.. tell me what you guys did to run it good? I want to help my tuner out to tune some cars out of this mess..

also whoever has the idle issue with 450cc or startup issues or the boost/vac transition post here your probs and your solutions... and reasons why it happens and why it doesn't.. this will be a compilation of info to tune out this bullshit!

SMC, walbro 255, dsm 450s, and it bucks at part throttle @4k... to tell you the truth, the car doesn't really run well in boost at all I'm sure if I took the time, I could smooth it out, but I'm holding off for hondata. You should do the same

so only at 4k? so you partial throttle at 4k and it buckles..

ok how about at 5k or 2k or 3k? if you partil no prob?

also if you LIFT your foot of the gas other than 4k, it's ok?

some people say it's not the injectors.. ok i'll mark you down as injector as culprit

what management are you using to control the 310... you can't use stock ecu, impossible

DSM 450's, Walbro 225lph, S-AFC, Bucks around 3k. Only a little under partial throttle. It's not as bad as my friends del Sol who had the same setup in his. His drove him nuts so much that he went with Prelude injectors instead. I think the injectors are the culprit with the bucking issue. Most people with DSM's buck. I've heard good stories with those that run RC 440's.

So essentially, make sure the injectors are cleaned and balanced, or invest in some new RC's. Hope I helped.

yeah i think some people just plug the injectors in and don't clean/balance them... well everyone should clean them first.. i don't understand why wouldn't they....

D16z6, dsm 450s, vafc. NO bucking at all. It did have little bucks at 5k at first but adding more fuel in that range fixed it. In first gear everyone that drives my car at like 5-10mph cant mantain a smooth speed, but that because the throttle is really touchy and they tap it too hard then it jerks forward and there foot comes right off cause the car jerked forward so the car jerks back since they let off, then they try to hit the gas again and get stuck in that loop. I dont think that is hack related but it seemed to get touchier after the hack.

I dont really have what I would consider a hot start problem other than it seems to need an extra turn or two to kick over than stock. On the super cold days I had last winter however the car would start instantly. The split-second the car hit the start position the engine was running.

good stuff... i'm beginning to see a trend.... people who get buckling are the ones who don't go to dyno or the tuner sucks ***... some people here got it tuned and they have no buckling... hmm.... very very suspicious... people are being cheap again

I have 370 injectors, vafc, and walbro 255. It hesitates a little at about 4k rpm while the boost is still building, but by 4500rpm (8psi) it's fine. I've tried adding and subtracting fuel but nothing seems to help. If I give it part throttle to 4500rpm then floor it the boost comes on seamlessly. Or if I rev it up at a light and launch it around 2500rpm the boost comes on very smooth. I didn't expect a lot for having a total investment of only a few hundred dollars in my fuel and engine managment. I have tuned my car on a dyno. I did notice that it bucks more when it has more boost. If I run 5psi there is no bucking at all, but the more I turn up the boost the more it hesitates while the turbo is spooling.

I feel the bucking is not a problem that just has to be lived with. I think the starting being a tad trickier is something that will never be as perfect although like I said its not a real problem for me. My theory is that it is probably due to whatever changes the ecu does to compesate while it is hot seems to be out of proportion after the map sensor reading is altered so much. I dont think its a dsm injector problem. I also run -25 at 1k well a lot of other people run -35 to -40. It idles about the same at whatver setting because if you change it the closed loop operation seems to correct it after a second or so anyways. I noticed on mine it would idle smooth but stumble after 30 second of idle then continue to idle smooth for another 30 seconds at -35. -25 fixed that and I dont have any real starting problems ever. What do the people with starting problems have their 1k setting at???

I had my brief bucking problem when I started boosting at 9-10psi, never happened at 5-7psi ever either. And like you said if I got on it from a roll and let the turbo build boost it was fine, just when I launched it and shifted into second gear or third with the turbo spooled it did not like it. More fuel fixed in that range fixed mine. I thought I was extra rich before that and read my plugs regularely, never any audible detonation, but more fuel smoothed it out anyways. I finished my DIY-widband last night so I will be seeing my exact air fuel tonight.

dsm 440's greddy kit vafc... bucking happens when the tps is near 0% or really low... then i give it a lil gas.
like if i back off the throttle... then give it a lil gas to move again it bucks.

One solution which i think only safc owners can do is to increase your tps voltage so the computer never sees the tps closed all the way. it removes some of not all the bucking. idle isnt effected. the change is like .05v or so

As a matter of fact, yes you can.

And for the record, my RC 440's would buck/cutout at partial throttle (1-7%) at any rpm in any gear.. even neutral.

Stock B16A2
RC 550 injectors
Walbro 255lph
SMC+

It buck at part throttle around ~4000. right where the turbo spool up. It doesnt bother me tho. The car run good in boost and in everyday driving. I thought my car was bucking because my BTM was retarding the timing a lot when the turbo was spooling. I am set at 1.5/psi. So when the turbo spool at 4000-4500rp, I get about 9 degree of retard.

My settings are:
idle: 48
1K: 45
2k: 42
3k: 41
4K: 40
5K: 39
6K: 38
7K: 37
8K: 37

Alright, noob question, but i think im seeing some sort of a trend. A lot of the non-vtec guys dont get bucking. Could it be a problem with VTEC?

PS. im likin this post

my TEMPORARY setup next week (till I get it uberchipped).

Dsm 450's
Walbro 255 high flow
starion FMIC
VAFC

Ill let u know how it works
