Default My new dyno with 3" downpipe

My previous dyno was: 266.5whp 190ft./lbs @ 7.35(.5 bar)
The conditions at that time where: 60 degs.
The dyno : Dyno Jet 248
Set up: Stock motor, Rev-hard turbo kit, Tial WG, 60mm N1 exhaust, 2.5downpipe

The air Temp in the dyno was 104.5 Deg!! Damn Texas wheather!!
New Dyno run: 274whp 199ft./lbs @ 7.35 (.5bar)
Set up: Same as above but with 3" downpipe and 3" thermal

How much does 44Degs in Air Temp make on the whp difference? Also the fans they used were fans from Wal Mart and not the high power blowers that most dynos use.
Any ideas?

very nice!

probably would have gained another good 5whp or so with the colder weather.
i say this because n/a cars benefit greatly from colder weather on a dyno so it must be that much more so for a fi car.

Red line. I went there since I dynoed there last time and the have my old dyno runs. It was only $30 for 3 runs the 1st time and now it was $60 for 3 runs.

nice torque!!! 44 degrees is a huge difference, and the dynojet software is unable to correct between that amount of change. So, i'd expect gains to be even greater on an equal day. When you overlayed the graphs, did the boost come in any faster? When do they ship?

John what do you think I could have dynoed at if the conditions were the same? Im asking you since you've ran the dyno before..

I just sent out a new update.

anything I would say would be pure speculation. I really don't know how much more, but remember for every 11 degrees intake temps drop, you pick up about 1% power. 4% of 274 would be .... a lot (I suck at math)

Nobody wants to donate one of those 3" downpipes to dustin for "testing purposes" ?? heheh

daym.. dynos are gettin more and more expensive.

u got about a 9 hp gain off a phat *** exhaust system.. not bad

get yourself a skunk2 intake manifold.. and air will flow in and out of your engine like nothing. hahah

just fyi 4% of 274 is 11hp. So, given that the conditions were the same (of course we know you can never duplicate any run/condition) you would have gained 20hp from the DP and exhaust!! sounds good to me.

that sounds on par with other exhaust dyno's I've heard too.

I thpught dynos correct for conditions (SAE). Np matter what the temperature/onditions the software calculates what the figures would be in ideal conditions (~70 degrees I believe).

For example...when I dyno'd my car my putput was 160.0 HP and 134.7 TQ SAE corrected. Uncorrected they were 149.8 HP and 126.1 TQ.
The condition were:

97.3 Degrees 28.7-0.55 in.Hg 1000 FT

So driving around on the street...Im really only putting down 149.8HP and 126.1 TQ...but if I were to go to a location that is "ideal"..I would be putting down the SAE corrected numbers.

So bottomline..I think temperature/conditions only affect uncorrected figures...SAE corrected figures will be he same regardless of coditions.

What usually uncorrected yields more hp and corrected yields less hp, are you sure about that hx guy? That doesn't sound right.

Yea Im sure. I think it depends on teh conditions FAST94GSR.
For example, if you dyno an its 50 degrees outside...you will lose HP when its SAE corrected..but if its hotter then the SAE figure then you will gain by corrcting.

you are incorrect. The SAE correction factor can only calculate for differences in temperature up to 9 degrees. After that, it cannot accurately correct.

And it does not work well for elevation either.

Will it help to have a 3" downpipe if you have 2 1/2 inch exhaust piping?
