Default Autopower bolt - in roll bar.

I've decided to go ahead and get the autopower "race roll bar" for my '99 prelude. Is this really a "bolt-in" or does it need to be "made to fit?" I called autpower and they quoted me $200 for install, which made me rethink just how "bolt-in" this is? Any comments, and sharde experiences with installing this product would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It is bolt in - but it does take some time to fit it in correctly, and you need to drill holes for the 'feet'.

Hey Robert is this what you're getting or is it more elabrate.

BTW this a pic of a non-race application car, and don't mean to insult anyone here for not having a pic of a gutted race car.

RJ: Could you elaborate on the "time to fit in correctly" part, please? As in, fit in machining parts, or fit in regarding getting the assembly into the car? I'm okay w/ the drilling, I just don't have the means to machine, weld, or re-engineer parts, and that's what I'm trying to avoid at 1am banging my head trying to make something "fit."

Ryan: yah, like that, but seeing how close diagonal bar, I'll definatly get padding for it.

You shouldnt have to re-weld or re-engineer anything. But it helps if you remove the seats (and possibly trim panels) and just take some time to make sure it fits right before you get out the drill. Oh get a badass drill bit too...

Okay, thanks. The car is stripped from the front seats back, so the "prep" work's done. Thanks again. Hubert.

You will have to...

1. Remove seats (fronts for sure, rears probably).
2. Peel up carpet
3. Remove trim where rear supports will go
4. Drill 4 holes for each foot of the main hoop
5. Drill 3 or 4 holes for each foot of the rear supports
6. Drill 2 holes through each sleeve that connects a rear support to main hoop
7. Trim interior panel where rear support is located
8. Trim carpet around main hoop (or leave it folded/rumpled)
9. Reinstall seats

Probably easier with car jacked up and rear wheels removed. Get a good drill, a second battery (if wireless), and several high quality bits.

Fitting the cage can be a pain, it's a tight fit in most cars. You may have to fit it, remove it to drill, then refit it.

Remove rear seats for sure. I also had to remove the dome light cover to get enough room to get the main hoop in position.

I'd also suggest that you look over the bar before you install it and do any touch-up painting you think necessary. They always seem to get dinged up in shipping.

Don't jack the car up, it will put a "twist" in the chassis while putting it in.. you want your car on a level service w/ proper air pressure in the tires..

RAB, I'm assuming this is your bar in your Prelude. I'm thinking about the autopower also. Can you tell me where the rear supports mount to and where you had to cut the interior panelling?

Haha should have put that disclaimer below the pic to. Its not my car, like hubert said padding is a must for rollbar duh to the guy's car in the pic. So I don't know nothing. But it seem Hubert is going to be our first lil ginnie pig for the rollbar. Thanks Hubert.
