I just recieved my new Car&Driver in the mail today, just thought i would spread the word about how the S2000, the cheapest car in this lineup, beat out the Boxster($50k) and the other cars listed in the title, over all in a Car and Driver comparison on which car is the better overall vehicle.... pick up a C/D today and frame that bad boy!!!

 

You are right steve, but still, even with those numbers, and the new cars it was up against, and it still came out on top, shows something on how well the S2000 was built...

You're always so negative Steve although right in this case.. Next months issue the 350z will be on top or something. I haven't driven a boxster, but in comparison the s2k is definitely the most fun to drive then the others in my book. At least they got it right for this month

 

All I know is that everytime I start my S, and drive it... I smile and have fun..that is all I know...

 

s 2000 all the way man **** . **** 50 k for a boxter that's zo6 money to me the s2000 is the best car in the group. but i'll take the 350-z

 

The S2000 looks really nice, but performance wise it seems as if you have to rev the **** out of it just to get it moving. Not that I wouldnt take it but give me a Z06.

 

Whats wrong with revving it up? I don't mind keeping mine above 6k when I need to. And when you don't want noise you have that option too. On the other hand you can get a Camaro SS that does the glug glugs at idle, but gives you power when you want it. I guess in the S you just have to plan ahead when you're going to want the power, whereas the Camaro SS you can just go on a whim.

 

Z06 will be my next car, but it will sit right next to my S and they will both serve their purpose. S for pure roadster driving thrill and the Z06 for that flat out overpowering speed.

 

Which one will you autox?

My next car is an odyssey, I can't imagine wanting to top my S until I can get a 360 modena.

 

Well actually in a few years I want to get into actual racing (track not so much autox) with the S. I'm going to start looking into the SCCA.

 

ahh, I autox with the scca. my brother should be going to solo II regionals next year in the BS class with his s2k.

 

I'm going to spend the next 2 years reinforcing my driving skills and then upgrade the S with a rollbar and possilby a hardtop. I'll also do some performance mods of course

 

the S-2000 and the SS- ls1 are not in the same class . one is not better than the other. the S-2000 is the BEST roadster on the market come on 35k and it well out perforum a boxter . now the SS is a muscle car it has made power but it's not as balanced as the honda. AND it was not made to be as refined as the s-2000. And the S-2000 was not made to be a muscle car.

 

you guys need to check out that BEST MOTORING VIDEO with the 350z on the fronT cover. It has that same lineup of cars at a track in japan. The Z outperforms every single car by far.

 

Black-stang, thats really what I was saying. The s2k is meant to be a track car, its on road feel is weak, you have to plan ahead exactly when you want your power and set yourself up to have power at that point. The SS is just meant to go fast all the time. I'm not saying one is better than the other, and actually the SS with just a few mods could easily hold up to the s2k on the track as well as continue to own it on the strip.

As far as the Z outperforming the S, that could be the driver. Since the s2k has no low end, you bounce around gears more just trying to stay above 6k, whereas in the Z you don't have to worry about that so much. Someone who has been racing an S for a while should be able to beat a 350z around the track.

theres a best motoring that has the s2k beating the rx8, r35(skyline), miata(had no chance), integraDC5-R and wrx. maybe the s2k in the video you're talking about wans't broken in. in the video im talking about, the s2k owned every car.
