91 Civic Race Car Tub For Sale
91 Civic DX
Sold as a roller (no engine or tranny) on stock suspension.
Body is straight with no rust. No crashes (that I know of, the car has a clean Carfax) and no damage beyond minor "rubbin is racin" stuff on the front and rear bumpers.
8 point Delta Group (Walt Puckett) custom cage with NASCAR door bars. Also includes window net/mounts, quick release steering column, seat back brace, and custom welded-in seat rails.
Legal for Honda Challenge H1, H4, or H5 depending upon what you drop in the engine bay. Vehicle weighed 1960lbs with a D15 motor and 1/2 tank of gas, so its potentially a super-lightweight H1 car.
Legal for SCCA ITA, SPU, F Prod, or G prod again depending upon what you do with it.
Could also make a super safe, low budget, evil as hell DE car.
The cage, window net, seat rails, seat back brace, and steering release would cost over $1800 alone. I'm asking $1700 (so youre basically buying the safety equipment and getting the car for free).
Yes, you can be racing for less than $5000 assuming you can do the wrenching yourself.
No, this car is not titled and is not currently street-legal.
Delivery to Southeast and Lower Mid-Atlantic can be negotiated. The car is currently also on ebay, so dont hesitate if you want it.

I'd think for the cage and tub (which is unmolested right?) would easily be worth the price easily for someone doing a Honda Challenge car.

it'll be fun!
In between booze runs, though, I intend to try my hand at H4 and ITA...

Seriously, no more ***-clownery from me! Congrats on the purchase, and glad to see you're moving towards w-t-w instead out "out" of motorsports altogether.

Sebastien... what a shame... You were on your way to recovery, and it was only last week you were giving up the pipe and headed to rehab. What happened?
thanks. I can get some cash out of my teg, have a project in the garage, and i will be taking my time to build the car as well as I can. So, it might take me a year or two to complete the poject. Which is fine, that gives me something to do while i get my finances in order to be ready to start getting stupid (and for the finances to go back to hell!)
So now, I will be asking a bunch of silly questions about civics, and how you make them go fast (only to find out that you don't.)

I managed to quit smoking 3 years ago. I don't know that I can quit the sport. It's actually more addictive. But see, I still won't be getting back on the track for quite some time, since I won't have a car to go in. I will have to wait until the civic is done. And that will take a while. So, I am kind of consistent. At least I can rationalize it that way. And my wife is actually relieved that I won't be moping around the house looking for something to break, or ways to sup up the tractor mower

well. we ain't got no roundy-round track nearby (Richmond's kinda far for the ol' 76 chevy) so we do some oval racin' in the back yard with them tractors... sippin' moooooonshine, of course. Sometimes, Cooters comes by.

talked to several people today...
- CRX Lee rocks. I'll be getting my suspension from him for sure. Thanks Lee for everything. Good guy. Everybody already knew that, but now I know first hand.
- instead of the D16 in H4, I'll be going D15 in H5 and ITC. Richard, looks like there'll be one more car in your playground, eventually.
- Warren and Corey both offered their trailers, free of charge. Awesome.
I haven't gotten the car yet, but I am already excited and starting to plan the slow build of the car.

You won't regret it, for sure. just as fun for less $$$ works well for me!
I know this SCCA/Honda Challenge rules stuff can be confusing. Seriously. But I'll throw this out as kind of a Civic/CRX guideline.
Keep in mind that there really is only one car that is properly classed and weighted in both IT and Honda Challenge... The CRX Si. Everything else is in either the wrong class, carries too much weight, or isn't classed at all.
Here's How it shakes out.
- If SJR chooses to drop a D15B2 in the car he will have a VERY competitive and budget friendly H5 car. BUT he'll have an outclassed ITA car. In this case I'd add a fuel cell and a 3 point fire system to the car (great safety choices anyway), buy an extra set of 13x6 wheels and slicks, and run the car in G production for SCCA races. It will be regionally competitive there, and driving on slicks is fun as hell.
- If he chooses to run a D16 he'll again have a great car for H4, but will not be ITA legal based on a technicality. Now, whether or not anyone would actually CARE (since there is no real advantage gained over a "true" Si) is a question I can't answer.
Again there is the F Production route, where the car would be legal and regionally competitive.
Budget also just went up a bit. With more speed comes more wear and more consumables.
Then there is of course the option of H1/SPU. Where all bets are off as far as budget is concerned.
Personally, had I still been within range of Honda Challenge involvement I would have kept the car and gone the H5/G Production route. But since most HC races are now an 18 to 24 hour round trip for me, an H5 car wasn't a logical choice. So I chose to build another car for ITC. Given that there are 4 major SCCA tracks less than 4 to 5 hours from my front door (Road Atlanta, Barber, Roebling, Daytona), I had to build to the SCCA rulebook exclusively as a matter of common sense.
Again, its a GREAT H5 car (much lighter than Floyd with almost as much power and the same brakes) but outgunned in ITA (same as Floyd's car). But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy an SCCA weekend or 2 each year (as Floyd does).
Scott, who is selling the car so cheap because of these issues. If it were a Civic Si, it'd be for sale for a whole lot more. Wait... if it were an Si, it wouldn't be for sale in the first place.
Yes, I know. Its confusing and doesn't make alot of sense. But thems the rules.
