why get a full race cage and then keep the interior of your car...

If you're making a race car, gut it. If you're keeping the interior, its obviously not a race car. you cant have it both ways, well i guess you can, but you might be better off stickign with "show tubes" or some other ricer ****.

Full cage in a street car isn't a bad idea for our old cars, if you don't mind how easily you can get in or out, go for it; I'd recommend Kirk Racing or Autopower since that seems to be what the kids are all getting these days. I have not used either but have heard enough to know they are both quality (my autopower cage should be here in about 2 weeks )

you can either do a custom cage from a local fabricator or get the Autopower ones.

if you do decide on the Autopower, let me know. We are doing a GB on the Autopower stuff right now.

I'd have to disagree with this. A full cage puts hard metal tubing too close too your unprotected head. Even padding won't be enough to protect you. A full cage pretty much requires a full harness and helmet to be safe.

Now a 4-point rollbar is not a bad idea. It'll keep the roof off you, and isn't in the way. Kirk or Autopower are fine, if not pretty, or a good fabricator can put in a real beauty.

BTW, the bolt-in bars from Kirk & Autopower will go in without having to gut the car.

custom fabricated by titan motor sports. 6 point roll cage. its the kind that goes across by the front door arm rests and ends near the foot well. Its a pain to run errands in. but you get used to it. =]

but yes, its gay to get a cage and leave the interior. IMHO. race or no race.

Quality bars at that, I wouldn't consider any functional bar to be a 'ricer' bar. I do agree that the rear section 4pt bars are a much better choice for a streetable car.

The only way I would do a full cage is if it was my all the time race car. i mean I was in a hatch with a full cage and it was a pita to get in and out of it (didnt help that the driver was shorter than me either but still the door bars arent very much fun to crawl over to get in and out. Plus like people have already said thast a lot of metal around your head!! I was thinking about just getting a 4 point but still not sure?? I might just wait till my car is just a track car and then do a full cage.

Rollbar

Do not route your harnesses this way. I had them in like this for maybe 3 weeks before I thought about it longer and changed them.

Titan motorsports did a nice cage , IF you are in the Bay area and want a cage Give BENEN Ind . A call , Me and ken did my cage in my Crx , and it looks very good . It has a Big X for the back with 1" tubing where the down bars would go to the wheels from the main hoop. along with 1" tubing across the main hoop for the harness.

If you want a full cage and have never sat in a Honda that has a full cage (especially autopower)... go sit in one before you order anything. I'm 6ft 1in, and I can tell you that I wouldn't consider putting an autopower full cage in any of my cars. My forehead is about 1.5 inches from the front bar. I'd be dead in an accident of any kind. I'll also add that there are blind spots like you wouldn't believe.... I mean VERY bad. Depending on the car, you loose visability, use of visors, head room, leg room, ease of getting in and out, safety in some cases, comfort, etc.

Unless you need a full cage, I seriously don't recommend it. It seems like a great idea until you have it in there. Unless you a tiny person there is a good chance you're putting yourself at higher risk.

I recommend a 4pt, or a 4pt with the door bars (6pt I guess). I really don't recommend a full cage in a street car.

i'm getting my full cage done right now. hopefully i get it back today and I'll take some pictures.

I didn't get the driver side door done yet. I plan on getting the nascar style bars done, but i want to keep my driver's side window for the time being.

the passenger side will have a cross just like yours. I'm getting my dash bar under the steering column (as the rest of the dash doesn't fit properly with it on top)...too bad i'll lose "shin area", hopefully my passengers will stop stepping on my ecu during autocrosses.

I'm itching to get it back. I'll probably take some crappy pictures with my digital camcorder.

i went with the dash bar as i didn't want to have to wear shin gaurds while racing.

i had to hack up the dash pretty good, but it does fit and with only 2 bolts in the middle (top and bottom of dash), it fits pretty tight. i tried to make the sides more of a press fit which they are, but they hacked up the paint i had on the cage bars.

Don't get a Kirk Racing cage. I have their 6point cage in my car. It fits like shitte. Save your money and get a custom cage. It will save you a lot of headaches.

it's a street car. Get a 4 point roll bar. you'll be much happier.
