93 Civic DX Hatch
This is not a must-go item, I'm tossing it out here to see if I get any offers I can't refuse. I want to part with it, because it's competing for mod budget against my 91' NSX.
It's red. It's got some moderate body damage. Front fender has a big dent. Hood is tweaked over the left headlight. And there's dings and / or scrapes scattered about the rest of the body. I think of it as a great excuse to spend money on carbon fiber fenders, a carbon fiber hood, and some fresh paint. The paint is in good shape, where it's not scratched, and the only rust on the car is just trivial surface rust on the front left fender, where the paint was damaged with the rest of the fender. Somehow, the car still manages to look attractive to me, probably because of the agressive stance, and sinister black wheels.
5-speed manual tranny. It's got ~143k miles. Probably loses some oil. But it runs fine, has a fresh timing belt, water pump, and oil pickup screen, so it should run for quite a while. It took me across the country twice (seattle->connecticut, and from there to LA) without a problem. The engine and drivetrain are totally stock. I have no idea how old the clutch is. The timing belt, water pump I had done at about 135k miles. I also had a full brake service (turned rotors with lots of life, fresh OEM pads, and fresh fluid) at the same time.
I bought this car when it only had 130k miles on it. So I'm really not up on its more distant past, for example, like how that body damage got there, or how old the clutch is.
The suspension is cheap and dirty. I was going for maximum results from minimum investment. It's got KYB AGX shocks with ground controls, and I'm not entirely sure what the spring rates are. I just kinda threw on whatever I had lying around from the integra I used to have. I think it's roughly 380 front, 300 rear. But the front springs are only 7", and they could really stand to be 8"... The front's ridin' low. In the rear, it's got integra rear LCAs and a factory ITR rear sway.
The front is a little weird. I wanted integra LCA's in front so I could mount an integra swaybar. But I didn't want to mess with ball joints. So I unbolted the rear half of the LCA from the front half, and bolted on the integra part. So it's like a hybrid combo of the two. But it did the job, and the integra sway fit nicely.
I never got the car corner-balanced after I installed all the suspension bits, so I'm quite sure it's off by a fair bit, and the car has a bit of a pull to the right, and seems like it takes right corners better than left. But it's still a lot of fun to drive, and always puts a smile on my face. On local streets, it's actually a little more fun to drive than the NSX, because it's plenty quick to accellerate below about 45mph, and it's so light and tossable, and has nice bulgy tire sidewalls so I don't have to worry about brushing a curb.
Oh, and on the interior, it's got a Momo steering wheel (no airbag, and I never got around to hooking up the horn buttons), and an ITR-wannabe shift ****. I still have the air bag, and I think I still have the cable reel somewhere, so if you want to go back to a factory steering wheel, it should be pretty cheap. When I got the car, the plastic of the steering wheel was separating from the inner steel structure, so it felt totally crappy to drive. Aside from a tattered spot on the carpet up where a deal pedal would normally be, the interior is in great shape. It's also got an AIWA CD/MP3 head unit in it.
The car has Black Volk TE37's in 15x6.5 +45mm and very worn Yokohama AVS-i's in 205/50/15. I still have the factory wheels with practically new high-treadwear all-season tires. So I can sell the car with or without the TE37s. I want $800 obo for the TE37s, but I'm not parting with the wheels until the car is gone.
The car is located in Marina del Rey, and I work in West LA (right by where the 405 and the 10 intersect), and has fresh CA plates, tabs, and just had its smog done (all in April).
Basicaly, I'll make no mis-representations. In its current state, the car's kind of a piece of ****. But it's still really fun to drive, and puts a smile on my face every time I get out of it. If you're looking for a cheap car that's fun and reliable, and a good platform to later turn into a race car, or to put carbon fiber fenders and hood, new motor, recaros, custom paint, and a fat suspension on.... This would be a good place to start.
The ballpark I'm thinking of is maybe $3000 with the TE37s on it, or $2500 without. I'll certainly consider lower offers.

The reason I haven't posted pictures yet is because I've been having second thoughts. Sure, it would cost money to fix up this car... But it costs more money to replace it with something else. And I'm really not sure I want to drive the NSX all the time. The only thing I'm really interested in on the market is a WRX Wagon.
So I think what I'm gonna do is hang onto the civic for at least 4 more months while I finish paying off the NSX, and then re-evaluate where I'm at.
Or maybe I'll change my mind again and post pictures in a couple weeks.
I sincerely apologize for waffling like this. Frankly, I wasn't expecting as much interest as I got.
