Default H22 EJ6 Failed Emissions, But Why? Take a Look!

Standard - Reading
Nox - 828 - 2500 - Fail
HC -100 - 160 - Fail
CO% - .56 - .57 - Fail

The car is a 99 civic dx, with a 94 JDM H22. They did not say anything to me or on the paper saying that the car was converted to OBD1. Although Im not sure what to here. I have AEM ITR CAI, headers, Carsound cat,and Apex N1 exhaust. Im almost postive Apex makes 50 state legal exhaust. I might be wrong though. Any one have any suggestions as of why I failed emissions in New Jersey so bad.

maybe it's because you're being held to 1.6l restrictions and you have 2.2liters...

"that's more fuel to you and me russ."\

that and you didn't mention if or what cat you are running...

oh and how did you manage to get "headers" on your car???

Carsound Cat Im running.

I could I have not put headers on my car? They are some JDM type headers, that came with the swap.

He's messing with you,

"That's HEADER to you and me russ"

Our cars run 1 HEADER, not a set of headers plural.

the egr being bad could cause you to run rich... that would fail you.

i just seached egr and one of the posts said he was running rich as a result of bad egr...

Well my EGR system is not even hooked up. Which by my NOx results being so high, would mean that I might be running rich.

I'm not sure then because lots of people are running them w/o... so if it's not a bad valve mis-functioning I don't know if it will just run rich by default...

search around a bit I'm sure the answer is out there... also try the hybrid forum.

All you readings are really high. in Ga these are the Allowable rates. On the right are Mine
HC-ppm -167 -- 50
CO-% 0.94-- 0.04
NO-ppm 1240-- 0187

It might by your O2 sensor or you might want to lean your car out. We also have to put our cars on DYNOS @ 25 mph for 4 min. Sucks

I might be wrong but if my O2 sensor is bad wouldnt it through a code?

Yeah in NJ cars go up on a dyno also, Im sure if its 4 mins though, thats real long.

Carsound cat is less than a month old. I put about 300 miles a week on the car if that. The cat maybe has a 1000 miles on it.

I also barely failed emissions due to the emissions system looking for the factory 1.5L.

I'll be going down there again though running my mom's stock P28 off of her del Sol Si.

I ran around with the stock P28 on my car for about 2 days, and it ran just fine, but I could DEFINITELY tell it was running lean as hell.

But I'm currently switching the water pump/timing belt before I go back to the emissions.

Try running a stock P28 or a P06 ECU to lean your car out as if the 2.2l is running as a 1.6l.

HTH.

Alright I guess I could try that, except for the fact no one I know mods hondas. Resulting in no one have those 2 types of ecu's laying around.

WOuld the map sensor have anything to do with whats wrong?

get your EGR system fully hooked up and running.

It can FOR SURE cause you to fail hardcore. If you still don't pass, then try to lean it way out.

Problem #1: 2.2/1.6 liter emissions are different
Problem #2: Aftermarket cat sucks and those cat are prone to go bad in NO TIME
Problem #3: OBD1 instead of OBD2.
Problem #4: They don't care what exhaust you have...if you have one and they wanna be an ******* about it...you're failed!

Your NOX is way over the limit

Are you getting the electrical plugs with it? If not, it's going to be a PITA to hunt those down.... take a look in my sig

Edit: Well I forgot that I took it out pending a sale But it took me over a month to even find anybody with the plugs, much less one willing to sell them
