my brakes are fading, what might it be?
i've noticed recently if i apply even pressure on the brake pedal it slowly goes down to the floor, i've also noticed that it does it more when the clutch is down. my pads are alright and i'm not loosing any brake fluid, there are no leaks under the pedal. what do you think, master cyl? If so is that something fairly straight forward i could replace myself? thanks
oops...well i didnt read his post thoroughly. he said there was no leaks...but he said under the pedal (inside the car). i also thought he meant his clutch was falling to the floor too.....
try popping open your hood and looking at the mbc and look for leaks...usually the booster underneath it will be soaked with fluid if your mbc is leaking. oh yea..its a common problem for 94-96 integra's to have failing master brake cylinders and clutch cylinders.
my 95 ls mbc is dead. i ordered a new one from len

The brakes dont have a slave cyliner, its probably the master cylinder. I see in your sig that you have a 95, so its probably got a lot of miles, its fairly common though. I just did mine, pretty straightforward, but the MC is expensive as hell. Ya might wanna try bleeding them 1st though.

lol
Your master cylander is probably gone.

yeah i figured, it got pretty bad today so i need to fix it soon. How much am i looking at for the part? is it something i should go to the dealer or will an autopart store carry it? This might be a stupid question, but are the clutch and brake cyl's different units? thanks
clutch and brake cylinders are different.
autozone/advanceauto/pepboys/etc should carry remanufactured units. They're pretty cheap, i'd go that route.

If you have no fluid leaks and the MC is staying at the same level, i doubt you have a problem with the MC. Bleed the brakes, if there is air in the lines, when you press the brake pedal it will feel firm but then mush up and goto the floor slowly. A bad MC will leak from one of the seals inside and you can easily spot that.

They really dont leak when they get old. My 110k mile old GSR MC braked just fine and didnt leak at all, but if you held the pedal down for about 5-10 seconds it would sink slowly. It cant hold pressure inside anymore.
A couple of weeks ago, my CRX was doing a similar thing...it would brake fine, but if you held the pedal there for a few seconds it would gradually sink to the floor. Asahi and I replaced the master cylinder and all was well again.
A reman MC for my CRX ran about $115 if I recall correctly, so I suspect an Integra one would be a little higher but in same ballpark at least. You can check napa online and other autoparts chains for prices.
