Default In car footage from Sear Point World Challenge this weekend.

This was posted on a Type R mailing list by the driver of the car. It is about 60MB in size, so beware. If you can't watch the whole thing, at least watch the last 30 seconds.

That just plain sucks. Was everyone okay?

BTW, do you know what kind of in-car video system they were using? The direction of the lens seemed to stay stationary (unlike the servo controlled shots you get on speedvision), but at the same time the camera seemed to move independently from the dash...like the dash would vibrate up and down while the picture stayed solid. Maybe it's just me?

Quote from Scotts e-mail...
================================================== ====
Greetings all,

Well, I had my first foray into the world of World Challenge racing last
weekend. Having a completely stock motor I was able to qualify 38th out
of 42 cars. I was slowed in qualifying by a new front splitter that made
the front end stick but slowed me on the straights and made the car
extremely tail happy. We corrected this by removing the splitter for the
race. The start was pure mayhem. There were cars everywhere! I lasted
all of 4 laps until I was taken out by a BMW. Ouch!!!

Download the 69MB QuickTime video and see it from my car.

===============================================

The world Challenge seems more like BTCC every race. Those guys are crazy.

More from Scott,
================================================== =======
My accident happened after exiting turn 11 when I was hit in the right
side quarter panel by a BMW. The impact spun me backwards and I slid
sideways into the wall at around 50 MPH. The entire frame of the car has
buckled. The left rear looks like an accordion and the wheels on the LHS
are both bent in about 20 degrees. The roll cage helped the car stay
together but I have a feeling that it is time for a new shell.

I don't think I'll make Portland since I can't turn my neck at all right
now. Even if I could get another car together in time I think I am fine
lying in bed for the next week. I should be ready for Laguna Seca. I
don't know what car I'm driving yet, but I'm sure that it'll be a Honda
product.

================================================== =
