Default Not kidding..need help!! Throttle Cable/Throttle Rotor on Skunk2/GSR

Hey everyone. Just ordered in a type R throttle cable and bracket to mount on my Skunk2 manifold on my 95 GSR.

Only problem is, the throttle rotor (you know, the thing the cable hooks into) is reversed, mirror image on the GSR vs the Type R/LS type manifolds. Obviously, the folks at Skunk2/Group A motorsports never actually did this install cause it doesn't seem to fit on this way. I called them today and quite honestly, they were clueless to this fact. I'm there standing in front of my motor looking at the helm manual thinking I was going crazy. But, on the GSR the cable wraps around from the top and the Type R it comes across the manifold to the bottom and up around the the other side to the front of the throttle body. There does not seem to be a way to slip off the throttle rotor without the spring popping off.

Does anyone have a clue as to what I'm talkin about!! Am I the only one who is actually trying to do this?? I can't believe that would be true.

Please give me a clue on how to mount this or do I have to go out and buy a Type R throttle body???

torin

You guys need to use the LS throttle linkage (on the t-body)

I ran my gsr tb and throttle wire with the skunk manifold. Sometimes around 9k or so, the wire would pop off the throttle rotor, scary one time it popped off when i hit a pot hole. Anyhow I had to lower my tb wire bracket (on gsr its connected to tb) one hole to let it mount properly. Some people say you can use a civic throttle rotor or a weapon crap throttle rotor, they both will not work. You can though, use the Ls one I believe or itr one. I now am using the itr tb and it works a lot better with the manifold, cable, etc... Itr tb's can be pricey though, try to look into a Ericks racing or Holley 68-70mm the rotor will work as well.

u can still use stock GSR throttle cable w/ skunk2 mani but it will be a tight fit for hood clearance. that is what im doing w/ no probs.
or if u gonna use the ITr throttle cable, get ITr t/b.

I was running it with the stock cable. I bought the new cable and bracket so I can clean things up and be able to put my top support bar back in since it won't clear with stock gsr stuff in there.

Any recs on a new throttle body? What does it take to dissassemble the throttle rotor and put an LS or type R one on there???

Oh, also...does the ItR TB mount to the skunk2 without problems??? meaning, is it the same profile as the GSR tb?

i noticed the same thing too....rith now i just lowered the gsr throttle bracket but its only held on by one bolt so sometimes it comes loose so i'm gonna put the itr tb cable and tb bracket on.....although the rotor does turn the opposite way i think it should work with the itr hardware cuz if you turn the rotor to WOT, you will see that a cable pulling from the right side will still open the TB the same as a cable pulling from the left side.....the rotor only needs to turn about 90 deg to open the TB all the way.....its looks like it goes from 6 o'clock (closed) to 3 o'clock (WOT) so you see pulling it from the opposite direction will accomplish the same thing...i've been meaning to try it but i haven't had a lot of time lately but i will probably get to it this weekend......the only problem might be that there may be a little bit of slack on the cable or it might not be able to open the TB 100% (maybe 98%)
As for not being able to pop the rotor off, i know Weapon R makes lighter throttle rotors for our cars so there obviously is a way to remove it from the TB....maybe they have a itr throttle rotor that would fit on a GS-R TB.....check out Summit if you are interested

it looks like "you don't have to but it's better if you do" (replace the throttle cable, etc.). we're all in the same boat, i'm getting mine put on in the next few days. here are the part numbers i found on this site:< http://tiiite.b16a.com/sk2intake.htm >.

Integra-R throttle cable bracket / Honda part # 16411-P73-000
Integra-R throttle cable / Honda part # 17190-ST7-R01
Throttlebody pulley from a non-GSR throttlebody

anyone the the ballpark price for this stuff? i wanna do it right the first time and not have to worry about it unless the prices for these parts is ridiculous.

If memory serves me correctly:
- ITR throttle cable ~$24
- ITR throttle cable bracket ~$10
- non-GSR TB pulley/rotor is not available from the dealer, you have to buy the entire TB

Now I'm a little concerned. I was going to do this install this weekend. I don't want to get shafted part of the way through. Anyone had success with the GSR TB and ITR cable and bracket?

cool. then I'm not stupid. I knew there were different pulleys on these. i have no idea where to buy one except to buy a whole tb. and then sell mine i guess.

ok, here's the deal from my man wee:
S2 IM works fine with the GSR TB, and cable, "it just looks shitty"
he's done many of these and hasn't heard of any probs (i.e. cable coming off the pulley)
if you get the ITR cable and backet: they WON'T WORK with the gsr TB
he doesn't know of any way to get the pulley itself (w/o TB)
gsr aem cai is pretty easy to modify to fit.

gotta run for the train...

as for worrying about ur strut bar, just do what Trust (warren) did and reverse the bar. meaning put it on back wards.
ITR t/b will fit directly on skunk2 mani. u can use the ITR throttle cable then
or just use stock GSR t/b and cable like i did with out problems.

Wasssup Stick

Acutally, I have it now so that it totally clears the strut bar and still use the stock GSR cable. I found a rotor off a Civic EX TB (You can probably use any TB rotor from most hondas). Then I found a cable mount off a old prelude(You can probably use some type of modified L bracket from the hardwre store to make the mount) and modified it so that it would allow the cable reach the TB rotor. I'll try to post a picture later on today or tomorrow.

DO NOT USE WEAPON R throttle rotor, they do not work. I have two of them in my garage and tried both, its pretty crappy because you have to put the weapon r billet rotor over your OEM one. Messing with the throttle rotor can sometimes effect your tps, so make sure to recalibrate it. Best solution is just get the Itr tb, saves you a lot of possible stress, plus you can get it bored out to 70mm inlet, 65mm tapered. You can just transfer your existing sensors if you get a used one. I'll get pics of that weapon r rotor and how it doesnt work if someone could post the pics for me.

yeah, I was working with JC("GTeater", lol) on his Skunk2 manny. We just lowered the cable bracket in the TB to the bottom bolt which works. The only problem is that the hood pushes the cable down (opening the throttle) so you need to calibrate it in anticipation of thay. Also, as mentioned above, the lone bolt loostens everynow and again.

The ITR bracket bracket by itself won't do anything. The rotor is what is the problem (goes the otherway). I say either get a custom cable bracket (so the throttle cable will hang much lower, or get an LS/b16a/ITR TB and use that instead. HTH, -C

yes, it does.

Unfortunately, I already have a 66mm tapered to 64mm GSR TB I'm going to use. If anyone has a throttle rotor or a cheap TB I can scavage for it's rotor, let me know.

I have the weapon r tb rotor that I machined a little off to fit the gsr pulley. If you want it just pay 5 bucks for shipping and its yours. For me it messed with my Tps sensor, but I think that could've been because I tried using the civic rotor and kept switching over about 20 times to try and see which way it would work.

I'm running the stock GSR TB cable on my Skunk as well, with no fitment probs. From what I understand, the GSR spring assy. is the ONLY Honda-made assy that winds in that direction! ALL other hondas wind in the direction needed to use the ITR TB cable, so you can use just about ANY other TB spring thingy. I have one from an old CRX that should work fine, but I just haven't installed it yet.
