U would be stupid to put something else rather than HONDA MTL in your car.
Use what honda uses and you will have no problems.

Because putting anythint other than honda mtl will result in a blown transmision. Honda had a problem when gsr's first came out in the early 90's with blown transmisions. Since then they added a special chemical to a regular mtl oil. If you use any other than honda mtl, be ready to replace your transmision in a short period of time.

PS. This is from first hand experience and not a rumor.

No experience with the R yet but I have a 93 Accord EX and the manual said to use Regular Motor Oil, it says it in the manual (crazy huh) But I had used what they recommended viscosity wise and have always had a bit of trouble getting into first from a stop... So Finally (now that I have 184,000 miles on the tranny) I changed over to Honda just figuring why not... the problem has all but disappeared. So I would recommend using the Honda MTL.
