I'm buying a bare ITR head, and im going to have to get new valves for it, and for the price of new ITR valves I can get .5mm over intake and exhaust SS valves.

What's the best brand for all-motor. The head will be slightly cleaned up, but mostly just the stock itr port job, also, it will have a 3-angle valvejob done when I install the new valves.

If it matters the motor will either be a 86*89 or 86*95..and compression will be in the mid 12's, I would prefer valves that are flat and therefore mildly increase compression. Anyone have any advise?

 

Stock OEM ITR valves are the best.

 

Tooo much money for stock R valves. I like REV SS good price, great product.

I can get stock R valves for $189.00/set

But the whole point of getting aftermarket valves is to go bigger.. And i don't think honda stocks .5mm OS ITR Valves..

So I got one vote for REV

They are still stock valves no matter how you look at it. Atleast when you pay that price for valves you GET STAINLESS VALVES NOT A STOCK ONES.

 

Why go oversized? It will limit your cam choices in the future.

I have had to many experiences with aftermaket valves dropping and too many experiences with stock valves over 225whp NA on 81mm.

I say go with ITR valves on the intake side and b16 on the exhaust. Whatever you do, don't buy skunk valves.

Well, this motor's goal is 235 if I end up going with 2.0L Block I currently have, or it will be 275 if I go with the big old 2.2L deckplate setup. Either way I will be running Ef-1 M24E Cams which are 303 - 12.7mm. If big valves will not allow me to run these cams, then I will go with stock. But regardless, I won't be doing ANY cam gear tuning. Staying at 0,0 for safety reasons.

 

I bet if you asked all the top all motor dudes what valves they used, nearly all would say stock size. I wouldn't go oversized man. I have the Skunk2 ones which are the same as the ones offered by http://www.alaniztechnologies.com . Supposedly he has them a bit cheaper. I am making at least 220whp with those valves.

why not skunk valves, not questioning you knowledge, just my own curiosity

 

I like Supertechs.

 

OEM ITR.... Remember, OEMs bend, aftermarket break. what would you rather replace, new valves, or a whole motor......the choice is up to you......good luck

Please explain -- dropping (what does this mean, and why did it happen)?

Also, what kind of experiences with stock valves over 225whp (NA/81mm)?

Have seen alot of people buy bigger valves and a few months, they buy OEM ITRs from me. &lt;shoulder shrug&gt;

i think the best valves are ferrea they are alittle expense but they are great

 

if where talking about the best all motor valves here i would have to say crower titanium valves would be the best, but i don't think any one can afford them. there very light weight and durable. but i'm pore so stock valves will work great for me.

 

I am using standard size Skunk2 High compression flat valves and like them.

As for over sized valves, go to alaniz website and he states of all the kinds he has tried, he has yet to see any gains out of the valves.

Every set I have worked with begins to "mushroom" where the Rocker arm makes contact with the valve. We end up cutting the valve out of the head instead of trying to pull the valve through the head damaging the valve guide. Keep in mind these are cars that are driven more than the typical weekend race car. Last week there was a post made by omniman from skunk2 stating the same thing.

Two of our all motor street cars run stock valves. One with 223whp runs ITR valves while the other with 226whp runs stock B16 valves. I think the big benefit of running the aftermarket valves is just to bump the compression with the flat faced valves. I prefer to use the OEM parts where I can.

maxboost, what happen to your last motor? didnt it run good? are you bringing it back to jdmotorsports? anyway my head is in the the shop now for itr intake valves.
