Crvtec shopping list, please help, many questions
Hi I am very seriously leaning towards the idea of doing a crvtec swap at the end of this summer. I am in the planning stage right now and I am not sure exactly what I will need to do this swap seriously. I have a 1992 Si.
Here is a rough list of items I think I will need:
B20z block
B16 head (a1 or a2 doesn't matter right since its just the head?)
JE Forged Pistons for B20B4 w/ B16 head STD bore and 12.5:1 comp ratio (Is that too high of a CR?)
***Absolutely no idea what rods***
GSR Block Girlde
***no idea what ecu or anything having to do with wiring***
***no idea about axels***
***no idea about anything that should be done to the block before building such as acid dip, or anything else they can do***
***no idea about head bolts***
ITR Intake manifold
Can I use the stock CRV transmission for a while?
My plan is to just build the bottom end and get the motor into the car with the CRV transmission, later down the road I will hopefully buy an ITR transmission and do head work.
I have absolutely no idea about what needs to be done to the block to get the vtec head to work properly such as the oil line that needs to be done. I have also heard that different oil pumps need to be used on the block. Is that true? Can I leave the stock sleeves?
I am a noob to this but want to learn. If you can answer any of my questions or make suggestions to my shopping list I would be very thankful. Also if anyone knows of good stores on the net where I can buy this stuff or any good engine shops in NoVA that would be great. TIA.
Thanks,
Jake

Wow thanks so much.
After reviewing that article I have a few questions:
1. I don't understand anything on this page; http://honda.hybrids.jp/b20tech/b20-pcv.shtml
2. Will I be able to enlarge the dowell pin holes myself or is that a job for a machine shop?
3. For the head bolts I should use ARP bolts for a GSR or ITR head even though I'm pretty sure I'll be using a B16 head
4. Are there any differences between a B16A2 head and B16A1 head?
5. Will a 12.5:1 cr be too high for a daily driver?
6. In my case I will be using a. market pistons with a stock bore, do I have do anything to the sleeves?
7. They say to match the distributor to the OBD version of the ecu, what does that mean?
8. Will I be able to tap my own hole for the oil line to vtec solenoid?
(Are dowell pins and head bolts the same thing? could someone please explain?)
Thank you,
Jake

1. I don't understand anything on this page; http://honda.hybrids.jp/b20tech/b20-pcv.shtml--- just get this for the PCV system When you put a frank motor together, there is no pcv system so you have to adapt one. the endyn kit is the easiest answer.
