Attended my first autox yesterday. All i have to say is DAMN that **** is fun!!!!

It was just about the best time i ever had with my car. I also got first place in my class, "Street Mod novice" (I was the only one in it. ).

looks fun, I want to try it. My mechanic told me I should get a set of tires just for autoxing because I would wear my tires alot in just one race.

So my question is did you notice any real tire waer after you were finished?

thats only cuz i always try to get ScaleExtric to go. i truthfully suck . i am always in the last half/third of the run group in STS. im still a rookie. only 1 year into it. i dont understand anything yet. thats why i like autocross . i get schooled everytime. its almost like a heap of info everytime i go.

hey JV have u ever thought about a evolution driving school? i was thinking about going to one i heard they r the best things u can do for ur autocross improvement.

what mods put you in Street Mod? a swap?

autocrossing is alot of fun. this year i moved out of STS and into SM cause of my swap. so i get to race a lot of really fast cars and come in last every time. YAY!

Any of you guys do the philly region? I would really worry about tires that much considering you can get azenis for like $65 each, and they last pretty long. But you can always get a extra set of cheap light weight rims and some azenis or whatever you prefer for cheap and then just put them on for track days and take them off later. You guys should come down to the philly region sometime.

 

I really want to go autoxing this summer. I'll do it myself a couple of times to see where I stand, and then I'll go to a few schools to get expert halp.

 

JV, what suspension and motor mods do you have?

And with the tire question, if anyone would notice that much wear, It'd be the Azenis guys and I know they don't buy a set every race.

 

Yeah, just wondering why if you say you're slow they'd put you in SM? It took my engine swap for me to be in SM..... but then again I'd say I am sloooow

Tire wear.... I'm in the same boat as you- Ecsta 712 and no real signs of wear after 2 auto-x. And thats with a nice 30 ft slide from 35-40mph after losing control, but we don't talk about that

 

But you're lucky- you have tq when coming out of turns and gates

My tq'less wonder is definitely lacking in that dept. Which explains why I lose control because I have to haul *** to stay in high RPM for any power.... it's all trade offs until I realize I don't have sway bars and end up owning cones

Well so far I've seen ?'s answered on tire wear, mods for different classes, and a guy letting others know local group contacts and that Auto-X is extremely fun.

This and Auto-X in general is probably more tech than a lotta posts in this forum. Better than "check out my new paint" or "questions on JDM interior parts and how they look"

 

can you tell a big difference between the d16z6 and the b18b in that coupe?

 

Stick with the D motor! Lighter is faster. Guaranteed.
