Sylvania Silverstar 9005 conversion
I was kinda bored the other day and didn't have much money so I decided to do the 9005 Silverstar conversion. I ran up to Murray's Automotive and purchased 2 bulbs for a total of $45.00. They also came with a $10 rebate which I sent in, so once the check comes the total will only have been $35.00. I followed some directions I had found on Honda-Tech and used a dremel, soldering iron, and of course a hobby knife. The total time was about 30 min, but most of that was waiting for the soldering iron to heat up. All in all I am very happy with the results and especially the price. The bulbs light up the entire road and they are pure white.
Here is a picture I took without a flash.

$35.00 bucks is a lot better then spending $400+ on a H.I.D. kit which I was going to do. Now I can use the money I saved for a camber kit and put my Koni Yellows and Ground Controls on. I will monitor how long this conversion lasts and let you know.

the Silverstar conversion is good, but an HID kit is well worth the money. I've seen both and the Silverstar conversion doesn't even compare.
i did a silverstar 9005 conversion and i really like the results, mine looks just like your picture. It is a very noticable difference and im glad i did it. Ive had them in for about 2-3 months now, and the worst that could happen is they could burn out. I dont think $20 a bulb is bad at all. It is more reliable than the overwatted piaas and other aftermarket bulbs and i think that h.i.d. is a waste of money, but that is just me...

doing the 9005 conversion or installing an hid kit, i think we can safely agree that we'd like more light out of our integra headlamps.

I love this mod. It's really cheap and easy and the payoff is great. I had one Silverstar bulb last about one year and my other original bulb is still going after 1 year and 3 months. It's not HID/Xenon by any means, but it is definately the next best thing.

i did the conversion 2 weeks ago... i love it! The light is pure white, with no hint of blue or yellow! Good, cheap mod...although I'm planning to go HID after they burn out.
Was this really necessary? Mods?

I personally praise this upgrade. As stated above the beam pattern covers the entire road ahead of you and also has alot of light on the side of the road. I ve had mine in for one year now and no problems. For those of you who are timid and having trouble figuring out if they should do it, GO AHEAD. Some people have no problems like myself, and I guess other have shitty luck. Just remember to clean the bulbs with alcohol as usual.
ok... why are we arguing about this conversion. I've done it, and its brighter than any other bulb non-hid. Yes the bulbs are a lot more but no where near HID price. Obviously HID is the best and brighter, but not everyone can afford it. I've had mine 9005's runnin for about a year and have been very pleased. You dont need a soldering iron to do this just a knife or something sharp. Theres a great article w/pics on http://www.team-integra.net
