Sparco on stock rails?
Has anyone tried mounting a side mount Sparco seat to the factory sliders (on a G3 Integra)? I was looking at the stock sliders and one side simply bolts off and the other would work except for some extra brackets that look like they can be removed. The best part is that these sliders mount about 1" closer to the floor then the Sparco brackets.
I'm going to try hacking apart a stock slider tomorrow unless anyone has tried this and knows why it wouldn't work.

As long as you were using these:
I dont see why the same method wouldnt work.

ah I see.
but arent those the mounts that people keep saying suck *** and dont even fit the seats?
also I have heard from people that have done that, that the seat ends up being way too high.

The problem is those bottom mounts will not bolt to the sparco seat bracket.
However if you bolt those seat mounts to the sparco slider to the sparco bracket, they do work, but it raises the seating position up.
If you use the side mounts w/ the sparco bracket you have to drill new holes in it to mount the sidemount brackets.

Thanks RJ. That article gives me a little more hope that my project will work. The biggest road block that I have to clear is that one of the stock rails has a lot of extra brackets that I will have to remove.
Also, I'm counting on the side mounts lining up in the center of the stock sliders (where those metal slats attach to the stock sliders in the link above). I eyeballed the distances and it looks close. No real way to tell w/o pulling the seat out and trying it.

the guy pphcTypeR or whatever who had a few Pikes Peak Hill Cimb cars for sale on Ebay had a few pics of his seats made to fir oem sliders.
he used angle stock on the outside mounts and fabbed a little bit with the oem side possibilitiesd on the innerside mounts.
prettymuch added a L bracket to the door-side seat slider.
really simple if you have it all in front of you.....
I didnt make my Sparcos side mount because I wanted mine AS LOW AS POSSIBLE
and that is th ebest way I found without altering the oem sliders.
good luck!

When using Sparco junk there are two brackets. The side mount brackets and the floor brackets that the sliders attach to. Using the stock rail it would eliminate the need for the floor brackets.
Idealy it would be Seat=>Side mount Brackets=>Stock Rails
Because of the width of the Evo2 I think it will place the holes on the side mount brackets directly over the top of the stock sliders. Then I just have to drill holes into the stock slider and bolt it together. Man, I hope it lines up close enough.
I am concerned that I haven't seen anyone else with this setup. On paper it looks easy so what am I missing.

Because most people dont think to use 2x1/4x18" pieces of steel or to drill into the stock sliders to mount up the seats... and that the sparco junk will work.

I say forget trying to bolt it.
Weld the Sparco side-mount onto the base sliders and be done with it. If it doesn't match up exactly, weld some extensions onto the side-mount, then weld that onto the sliders.
Don't have a welder? It would be easier to find someone locally who did that spend a lot of time futzing with it...

Hey Jeremy, i mounted my Sparcos using stock rails (with aluminum sparco side brackets)...you can check it out when we see each other next or I'll try to take pics...
Basically what I did was bolt 2 steel bars across each seat, then mounted the rails on them using heavy duty bolts from OSH...steel plate washers to level.
I mounted an EVO 2 to two pieces of 3" angled aluminum, then drilled and mounted the stock sliders onto that. This was in an 85 CRX. It worked fine, I just needed to tweak the rail positions a bit. I don't think I have any pictures, unfortunately. Not sure if it would work the same on a G3 Teg.
Example of home made bracket on stock sliders, will work with a Sparco seat the same way. You just need to separate the stock track grind out some rivets and spot welds to demount the stock vertical brackets, drill some holes for you new brackets and use the right size bolts. It is much lower then the stock set up, you can get the seat base on the floor.
