Default B16 funky prob.

Okay 88dx to b16a1 swap Hasport wiring harness...etc...

Has run good so far without any major probs. CEL maybe 3 times (code 2)
The CEL (code 2) is not on anymore. At some point in time with my battery disconnected it has not come back on.
Now my prob.
After I adjusted my valves (correctly might I add) I noticed my idle tons smoother, but seeming to be lower (sometimes extreme @ about 200rpm or so)
--So I tried adjusting the idle screw. That seeemed to help, but only off and on, not consistently fixed. The screw is staying in place though.
--The idle woes would usually happen when you take your car out of gear, as when you are slowing down to stop. It never cut off, but would go way down, but catch itself (about 50% of the time), and idle good.
--Tonight it was doing it again--and cut off. This is the first time my b16 has let me down. BUT it started right back up, and I was on my way.
The next time I took it out of gear to slow to a stop it about cut off, but I kept it on the throttle a little bit.
I'm stumped on it, I want to buy some more stuff for my car, but want this fixed b4 I do.
Heres some specs on my car.
-Original fuel pump
-good spark wires
-dist cap
-I was told my car was a little out of time
-Old fuel filter
-synthetic oil 10w30 syntec
-no abnormal noises, hesitations, etc.
-only 93 octane gas since the b16
-good injectors
-etc........

I need help on this one. If you've had this problem before post up and let me know how to fix it. I'd hate to pay Honda 100 bucks just to tell me whats wrong with my car.

thanks a lot.

That really is nothing to be worried about, my car bogs when in neutral when coming to a stop, then idles fine. Never stalled though.

It is something I worry about. BTW My battery and alternator are fine. I got them checked out by trusty Autozone.
Sorry I'm just a freak when it comes to maint. this motor. I beat it up and down the one way street everyday. Not that bad, but you get my point...so I try and keep her running skrait as can be.
She needs some magic hands on her, or at least some advice for those hands...

Is it 02?
Fuel filter?
Spark Plugs?
Skunk stuck in air filter?
Y2k in ecu?

Try slightly tightening your throttle cable, it will cause your idle to rise obviously but you said it woudl idle low sometimes anyway. If it goes too high then correct it with the screw, this way when you let off and the plate goes to close the cable will hopefully catch it sooner. Worth a try.

I know you said you adjusted your valves right, I thought I did mine right too. I did mine within spec, but my idle did the same ****. I loosened it a hair, and all was good. Thats just my experience. Ryan

Also, my tps was the culprit for a unsteady idle, and a slight hesitation at about 2K rpm. I just got a teg one, and its fine now. Ryan

my throttle cable is tight.
I modded that OEM bracket by moving it over one, so it could be as tight as can be w/out revving up the motor, so I doubt thats the problem.

No I have a certified mechanic friend of mine show me how to do it. He actually did most of the work, but showed me how much drag was on the feeler gauges etc...so I don't think that's the problem either.

check all your vacuum hoses, compare the pic in my sig on the swap guide,

also your map sensor could cause this problem, in the helms there is a way to test it to make sure its working properly

I had the same problem, same thing. It purred, but it purred too low - taking it out of gear sometimes it would stall. The problem would diminish over time as I drove, only to manifest itself the next time I drove it (ie after stopping and starting). Doing a valve adjustment to the loose side of the scale solved my problem. I highly recommend giving it a shot. You may have adjusted the valves correctly - I know I did, I checked it over literally 3 times - but it just may be too tight for your engine.

UPDATE!
Ok I know its not the battery or alternator to be replaced. It seems like something on the intake manifold is clogged or stuck...like a dashpot or something...i dunno weird old motors

first a bump, next post an update to my unsolved mystery

Okay, the cutting off was starting to be more reoccuring, but seemingly just random?!?!? I still don't know why?
But I did try to see if it was a bad fuel filter, so I replaced that, no fuel leaks, put on right and everything.
Then I got a thing of fuel injector cleaner.

That helped some...

Now the prob get less, but now my car randomly doesn't start up!?!??!? It sounds fine like always, plenty of starting power, but won't fire up?!?!
Tomorrow morning I'm going to check my timing belt, spark plugs and other misc. stuff to get to the bottom of this.

But after it don't start you sit there a min with the key still in the on position, and it starts up. This sounds like a bad fuel pump? Is this the case.?

Still no CEL so I'm lost on this one. I might even go to the stealership on this one, b/c i gotta keep the reliability!

dangot! everyone something ain't right on my motor, whether it be electrical or mechanical i want to figure it out. I don't want to have to tell myself to step on the accel. pedal just to keep it going, or be fine about the car not starting up in 95 degree hummid butt heat!

Sorry had to vent. NO CEL, but this funky prob. Sounds to me like fuel, but hey what do I know till I try it.
